hard 2 choose! all of you are very strong women! i wanted to have an all natural birth but after i had to be induced i wasnt able to walk around to labor, i just had to lay there in the bed. After I got my epi, I had him 2 hrs later. I do want to try again on my next! Hopefully i wont have to be induced!

I got a doula this time around, and she's also a midwife. I will be laboring at home, delivering in a hospital. I want a home birth but kyle just doesnt feel comfortable with it.

Hey if you labor at home long enough, you might have an oops!
I progressed from 6cm to birth in 35 minutes... so you never know!   haha There would have been NO time to get me to the hospital.

I want to buy one of those home birth kits just in case.

My husband has 3 reasons for not wanting a home birth:

1) costs $2000 and our insurance would cover most of a hospital birth.
2) Lilian had IUGR and was born not breathing
3) I have OCD, and he's afraid I'll go into a panic attack in a non sterile environment.

But I REALLY want one

With Lilian I also progressed from a 5 to a birth in an hour so you never know.

He has another thing coming if he thinks the hospital is a "sterile environment"!!
You areway more resistant to any bacteria found in your own home than you are to the foreign germs you encounter in hospital, despite their best efforts at sterile technique.

Also, if you have a midwife present she will have oxygen and the knowhow to provide support if a baby is having trouble breathing until you can get to advanced care. Not to mention that delayed cord cutting gives you quite a bit of time by providing oxygen through the cord while breathing is established.   They sure aren't breathing inside of your womb either!

Yeah, I think it all comes down to it costing 2 grand. lol

The doula/midwife will be 500 dollars. I'd pay 2000 for a home birth though. He's just gotten to the point where he doesn't want to discuss it anymore.

Yeah, luckily our insurance didn't care about location.   They paid for our midwifery care, whether at the birthing center or at home. It was all the same... still cost money.
IMO it's dumb that some wont cover it, seeing as the total cost of homebirth is DRASTICALLY less than hospital cost, by the time you pay the facility fee plus the cost of all the interventions you are more likely to experience in hospital.
Do they not realize it will SAVE them money???

I know. My insurance only covers it if it is in a birthing center or hospital.

On another note, they also won't cover BIRTH CONTROL PILLS.

Don't they see bringing a child into the world will cost them more money in the long run?

Silly.   Is there a birthing center you could transfer to instead of hospital?? They are much more home like. My first was a birthing center and it was wonderful as well!

I didn't give a very good statement 4 WHY i chose natural child birth... if you want to edit this in for the rest of voting it's your choice but i thought i would just say.....

I believe in my body. IMO a woman's body was created to give birth (in most cases) We wanted to bring our son into this world in the best way possible for him, It was absolutely the HARDEST, most painful thing that I have ever went through in my life!
I am so thankful to be blessed with the body I have, a body that can give birth as many women had done before pain medicine was ever around.
I have a wonderful husband who kept me strong & encouraged me when i felt i couldn't keep going, I will continue this method of birthing with all our children as long as my body cooperates!
All the pain I endured was worth it when i looked into my son's brown eyes for the first time.

(okay i said my piece!) LOL! if not i just wanted to get that out!! I didn't read the entry rules very well obviously!!   Thank you for doing this contest!! and reminding me WHY i'm going for it AGAIN!!!

I think that is so awesome and true! We are made to deliver babies! Our bodies are amazing.
