Paragard?

I'm sure there's already a thread out there about this but I have my baby girl in my lap and don't feel like searching for it lol. Anyway, I'm going for my 6-week PP check-up in 2 weeks and me and my OB have discussed me getting an IUD. I don't want Mirena...I've heard bad things about it and I don't want to take anything with added hormones, so I'm considering Paragard. My bestie has been on it for 4 years and hasn't had any problems with it, but I wanted to know other girls' experiences with it, and what to expect when getting it put it and after and if anyone has gotten pregnant on it. Thanx!

Copper T is Paragard and LNG 20 is Mirena.


The Paragard isn't as effective as the Mirena, and it generally causes heavier periods.

I'm not trying to talk you into the Mirena or anything, just explaining the difference.

well i have mirena, and i heard bad things about the periods on parguard. but there are pros and cons to both. so ultimately it is up to you if thats what you want. i have just heard it makes for some mega bad periods and cramps. with mirena i have not had any regrets.

Every BODY is different......I had paragard put in and had to get it taken out. I had horrible cramps that just wouldnt stop and bleeding also so finally after three months I couldnt take it anymore and got it taken out. Also for me it hurt like a byatch when it was put in....like couldnt do anything the rest of the day due to cramping and pain. Hope its better for you though

The lowest expected rate, AKA rate when used correctly, is only 3%. So 97% effective. But the way idiots use em, 86% effective.

Yeah, I figured. It's also surprising that withdrawal and condom failure rates are so close -- especially when done correctly.

I got pregnant this past time relying on withdrawal lol. It worked for 4 years!

haha it worked for me for 4 years as well!!! and then i finally was like screw it, i probably cant even get preg anyway, because what are the odds i wouldnt be preg by now, and 3 months later.... you get the pic.
