Its nice to hear that your doctor was supportive about having you go as long as you could before you desided to get a c-section. 24 hrs is a long time I couldn't imagian. I never went into labor, a had a scheduled c/s a week before my due date.

Yes the more c-sections you've had does raise the risks but you should still fight for it if thats what you want. With your next (when ever that is) are you most likely going to deliever at the same hospital as your last?

That's a difficult question. I would love to deliver there again. I had both of my kids there and they are VBAC supportive (I'm not sure about VBAMC). My hospital and my insurance company recently had some contract disputes so they're not currently covered. I'm not planning on another baby for a few years though, so maybe they'll have worked things out by then.

Hello. I just found out today that I am a canidate for a VBAC. As excited as I am, I am hoping that I am making the right choice in having one. Although my dr does them she seems a little apprehensive with it. According to her if I don't go into labor naturally on my own by 38 weeks, then I will have no choice but to have a repeat csection. I just would like to talk to some other moms who are going through the same thing as me.

Hope all of you are doing well.

I guess its because of the amount of scar tissue that I have. She called my C-Section "botched". And since they don't induce you when you are having a VBAC I guess, they dont want the baby to be to big? So anything past 38 weeks she considers too far along to risk it? I didn't quite understand myself actually. But I gigured I will talk to her about it more and more as the time approches. I just want to load myself up on information so I can go in there rather educated.

The other thing they told me was not to gain to much more weight because they were again enforcing the idea of not wanting a large baby. The larger the baby she kept telling me, the more chance of uterine rupture? I was a little ambushed by all the facts that she was throwing at me because they didnt exactly match up with what I have read so far.

** Im adding to this real fast because as I am sitting here thinking about it, it seems like they are giving me a shot at having a VBAC, but not a great one. Like here, lets give you the hope, but only so much because we really dont want to take the risk. Know what I mean?

I just want to do whatever healthiest for the baby and me. I personnaly don't think thats a C-Section. I had a bad expierence with the last one and want to avoid that again.

it does seem like they aren't giving you a great shot. I dont see how your baby can get to big to push out. Unless you have GD

The more I think about it, the more its actually upsetting. I really need to talk to her at me next appt. I want a fair shot at doing it normal. And as drug free as possiable. I want to know what I am capable of.

she is giving you a week after your baby will be term
that's not a good chance at all

why wouldn't you be able to deliver a baby bigger then 38 weeks? Normally your body wont grow them that big.

Can you interview a midwife??

Hi, I hope we can help youfill insome of the hole in what your doctor's told you.

First you need to get a copy of you medical records from your c-section. Don't just take your doctor's word for it, read the report yourself and see what it says. You need to make sure that you are as informed, if not more, about yourc-section as your doctors is.

Yes, induction is dangerous after a previous c/s becasue pitosin causes harsh and iregular contraction whichtriples the risk of a rupture. But theres no reason, that I can think of, you should have to have your baby early to be able to have a VBAC.

If your worried about scar tissue make sure you don't gain more weight then you should while pregnant (25-30 lbs). Not because of the baby but for your skin health. If possible try to massage your incition sight everyday to try to deminish the scar tissue. alsoMake sure to do every thing you can to insure that your skin is healthy and in the best condition it can be. That will insure it keeps its elastisity and will streach well.

I'd sit down and make up a birth plan that includes your feeling about a repeat c/s and how you want your labor to go. List that you intend to tryfom a vaginal birth what you want to happen when you get to the hospital. Make sure you include that you understand about the risksbut that you are choosing to carry on with a VBAC, or at least untill you feel that that you are not comfortable with it. And then sign it. I'd make it very clear to your doctor that your not going into this on a whim and that you intend to carry through with it.

Most importantly to remember is that DOCOTRS DON'T LIKE DOING VBACs. They would prefure to section you and make it easy on themselves, and that goes for any women in labor not just women that have had a previous c/s. Don't let your doctor intinidate you, do the reasurch and keep informed on your own, and don't always rely on your doctors advice. Doctors these days are more conserned about preventing malprectise suits then your wishes.

Sorry if that was a little chopy, I feel a little all over the placetonight.

No that made perfect sense to me! Thank you. I actually haven't seen my C-Section report. Is there anyway I can ask them for a copy for my own records?

There are two midwives in the practice that I am in now. Do you think that will make a difference? I know. Its not even full term. I know all the things that can happen to premature babies. I've had to go through that hardship once, and do not want it again. I want a fully baked baby, not even two weeks shy of that.
