I didn't HAVE to have my epi. I was just tired and couldn't relax anymore lol. But my doc was all for me going natural if I could! I made it to 8cms!

Thanks! Yea, I received a spinal for my c-section with Grace but it was not an "emergency" c-section. I just got stuck at 7 cm..I was praying they do not make that necessary..I would love to do it no meds whatsoever.

Well if I HAVE to get it due to being too tired or in too much pain to relax, I might consider it but I figure if I was able to make it to 7 cm with Grace with nothing, I feel I can make it to 10 cm..here is to hoping! at 29 weeks the baby was breech..hoping it decides to turn head down before long.

Depending on the reason for your first C-section, it might be a really bad idea to get an epidural.......
As one of the prevalent side effects of epidural is a C section.
If it was failure to progress with an epi the first time, or an emergency C because of low blood pressure or baby indistress from pit after an epi, or prolonged pushing with late decels with an epi... it would be a really poor decision to do all the same things the second time around and expect a different result!
Many times the C section could have been avoided completely had mama not opted for the epidural in the first place. And having an epidural has a lot greater risk of causing a stalled labor and trouble with baby navigating the pelvis. So it's wise to go without it if you can.

I had my daughter January 23rd but I haven't had a chance to update.
I had some complications during my pregnancy and my daughter was not doing too good the past week and a half so my doctor scheduled me for an amniocentesis on January 21st. The test showed that her lungs were mature so they scheduled me for induction on January 22nd.
I arrived at the hospital at 6:50am, started my paperwork and was put into a birthing room right away. They put us on the monitors and started an iv not long after they started the pitocin. Things were going okay but seemed to be taking a long time. I was getting worried because I really did not want to have the csection. They broke my water and then the contractions were pretty constant. I was doing fine until about 11pm and I got the epidural. I have to say that it was the best experience i had with an epidural. They gave me just enough to take the edge off. I was still able to move my legs and move around. That was one of my biggest fears. Shortly after getting the epidural I hit 8-9 cm and my daughters heart rate began to go down fast they said that her cord was around her neck so they put an internal monitor on her head. After her heart rate was normal they had me start pushing. Her head was the hardest part to get out. 20 minutes of pushing and 17 hours of active labor, Serenity Rosabella came into this world at 2:06am on January 23rd. She weighed 5lbs 12oz 19inches long. She had very deep bruising on her head and an abrasion from the internal monitor. Her head is much better now thankfully. Our biggest concern was that there was possibly a hairline fracture to her skull. The hospitals xrays did not show a fracture but she has an appointment with her pediatrician on Friday to get a second opinion. Just to be safe. She has jaundice and we have a nurse that will be coming all this week to check her bili level. Thanks for letting me share, I am very happy to have had my vbac. Wish all the ladies trying for one the best of luck!

Well, with my first c-section, my OB was out of the country, her partner was one who decided after being stuck at 7 cm for 2 hrs it was time to go that route. Apparently, she was head down but had her head turned sideways..so she had never dropped because she physically couldn't due to her head position. If my OB had been here, she would have tried to turn the head until it was straight but she seems to think I should have no problem this time around as long as baby cooperates. She promised she is not off at all during the month I am due lol.

I have a question for all you ladies, are the chances of having a successful VBAC higher the longer you wait after having had the previous c-section? To be a bit more clear, I had a vaginal delivery with my first, and a c-section with my second a week ago, and I will not be having anymore babies for at least 5 years, so I'm wondering if I have a good chance of having a VBAC 5 years from now? I guess my logic is that my uterus and everything that was tampered with during the surgery would have had a lot of time to heal, but is that even a factor? I am just really hoping to have a VBAC for the next one, and if I can't I'm not sure I would even have anymore kids =/
