re: VBAC support and information thread

posted 2nd Jul
So this kinda died lol, I was thinking more moms would be interested in VBAC??

If anybody wants to try to get more moms to share their VBAC story that would be great.

If not, I'll still keep this updatedso if anybody stumbles on it they can still get updated information.

i had a horrible c-section when my daughter was born aug. 08. with the nextbaby i do want a VBAC..and at every appt. with my doctor from now until i get pregnant i am going to ask to make sure i can do it. he said that when that time comes we will talk more about it but if that is what i want than they will do it but he has to go over the other options and what could happen. He said that the amount of VBAC being done is very little and that most places won't do them b/c of what could happen.

I am also very interested in this though it will be a while before I have to make a decision.

I just feel like I missed out by having a c-section and I'd like to experience a vaginal birth.

Thanks for linking me here! I want to try a VBAC with my next. I have had a vaginal birth and then a csection. And the healing from my csection was so much worse. BUT I am waiting some more time before I TTC again.

I had a c-section last december. I was in labor for 9 hours and only had dilated to 4 cm almost 5 cm.

My doctor wanted me to go back for a c-section because he didn't want me to suffer through 10+ hours of painful labor..

By that time, I was so out of it, that I said yes.

Next time I want to have a VBAC!

Yep! It was December 23rd, so he probably wanted to go home for the holiday.

I know I could have had her vaginally. I was so out of it, that I just yes!

I really want to try. I know my Dr. may push csection though b/c my last was so big. My vaginal birth was 7lb 9 oz and my section was 10 lb 8 oz. I was overdue with both and when I went back after having my son, my dr. told me that with my next I won't go overdue b/c they will just schedule a csection. But IDK if I wanna go through that much pain again. I couldn't even hold my son for a long period of time without hurting.

I'm sorry, Thats one of the reasons doctors do sections at only 4-5 cm. Cause they don't want to wait around for you to finnish laboring. Its rediculous!!

Doctors think to that "if we section um then no one can blam us". Doctors are more consurned about themselves then you.

If you don't want a section they can't force you. And my mother gave birth to me 10 lbs 3-4 oz vaginaly. It can be done. I'd opt for a midwife they're more behide you then doctors are. Doctors just want to get the baby out. Midwifes want you to have the birth you want, safely of course.

I know how you feel, I cryed for days when they told me my daughter was breech and a vaginal birth was not an option. I still fell like I didn't earn her. Like I cheated some how, or was cheated.

I'm loving this thread! I've had 2 c-sections, so I don't know if VBAC will ever be an option for me, but if it is, that's definitely what I want. I saw in the OP that it looks like it will be harder for me to find a doctor willing to do it, but I will try.
My 1st section was an emergency c-section after 7 hours of labor when it appeared my placenta ruptured and my son wasn't responding to any kind of stimulation.
When I got pregnant again I had my GP refer me to a doctor who supported my decision to have a VBAC. That was the plan up until about 8 months. Unfortunately my daughter had many, many complications during my pregnancy so between me, my husband, my OB, my perinatologist, and the pediatric neurologist we decided a c-section would be safer for my daughter because we weren't sure how she would tolerate labor and a vaginal delivery.
I don't regret my decision to have a repeat c-section with my daughter, but if I have any more kids and it's possible I definitely want to try a VBAC.

Yeah it felt that way, like I lost an important connection that I needed. Mine was not scheduled either. I labored for nearly 24 hours before I was so exhausted from pushing that we decided a c-section was best. My doctor however really did push for me to keep trying rather than doing the c-section and I'm thankful for that. I was just so exhausted and my epi had worn off and I was out of it too, I wish now I would have tried harder but at the time I didn't think I would make it a minute longer... she was stuck under my pubic bone but maybe we could have loosened her somehow, oh well its the past and I'm happy with my beautiful daughter either way!
