Ok so I have a question. I was sexually assaulted by another marine from NR about 2 weeks ago. My husband called the ambulance since I was freaking the t
smurf out and I was admitted into the naval hospital here. They had me talk to a pchycologist at naval while I was in. My question is in trying to join the navy in the next year or so do you think that would DQ from service since I know they take previous mental history seriously. My husband before he got in told his recruiter that he had went to a pchycologist previous for his parents marital issues and the recruiter told him to lie at the MEPS when they asked, they didn't really look and he was a le to get in. But since I went to a naval hospital will they be able to view my file more easily?

First of all I am so sorry that that happened to you! How awful. How are you doing?

And second, it shouldn't matter; I wouldn't even mention it. Like a psychologist just came to see you while you were in the hospital? Totally warranted given the situation.

Just to clarify, I mean I wouldn't mention it at MEPS. Definitely tell your recruiter, but I have no doubt they will tell you to lie (or just not divulge it).

I'm fine just been trying to keep myself busy to take my mind off of it and not let this overtake my life. Yeah at the hospital I was heavily sedated when I was there and I think I told them about 1 previous suicidal thought and now it's on my discharge papers idk if its in my file though, I'm just worried that it will ruin my chance forever of joining the military. Would they look at my medical records? Other than this incident I haven't really been hospitalized or any other medical condition.

I definitely couldn't tell you for sure, but honestly I can't imagine that they look at your medical records at all. Just doesn't seem to me that they have the manpower to even do that. I don't remember even signing a release ever...racking my brain here...but if you didn't sign a release they couldn't access your records anyway. Honestly though, I really think it won't be a problem.

It has been a bad week for Marines all around. Either they're going crazy and shooting people or using bad equipment that causes injuries and deaths. I mean smurf.

yeah he was random for the most part, he was brand new fresh into the fleet so my husband or I did not know him.

Do you mind me asking if he's going to get what he deserves? They're really taking sexual assault seriously now (I know... "now"... it sounds terrible but they're doing a lot more about it than they used to, that's for sure).

This is why I'm not turning my gun into the armory. IDGAF. It's staying in my car and home and if they wanna yell at me for shooting someone who's trying to rape me on base then they can have at it. My husband just told me, "Just don't 'tell' me we have it." Heh.

I saw, when they finally released the names, one of the Marines is from the town I am moving to.

It's so sad, what the families have to go through.

Things could always be worse. Yeah, it sucks...but once things start getting back to "normal", things won't be as bad.

Everyone is entitled to a little complaining, I think. What is crappy for some may not be for you and vice versa, ya know? No one knows exactly what you're going through, but some have a pretty good idea.

I just got back, picked up my little one, and now that I am less stressed, she is less stressed. Things will always work out.
