This PCOS has been a nightmare. We finally have a house here in NC (this is month three in a rental condo and although it's on the beach it's too far from base to be a permanent living situation) yet our stuff can't be there until the 25th, mere days before our rent is up. Of course my husband will be gone in VA during that time so I'm responsible for moving an entire townhouse worth of stuff into this new place, all while watching Jameson (18 months). I can't find a babysitter, I don't know anyone here, and the moms I've met so far are just kind of meh.

In addition to this I learned my husband will spend the month of May in California before deploying to Afghanistan until 2014. I thought they were supposed to be back BY 2014? Argh. I guess it could be worse.. It could always be worse. I'm just sad our last months together are riddled with time apart. All told we have about six weeks of time together until next year. It feels weird to be saying and thinking about that. The most solid time we've spent apart was three months and I stayed home during that. I had friends and even family in the area. Now I'm just in the middle of nowhere and I won't lie: Jacksonville sucks. I've given it three months and still feel the same.

Enough first world bitching for the day. I know a lot of you are currently wishing you could even be with your husbands, let alone spend six weeks with them, so I really shouldn't complain.

I wish i could say it gets better. DH started training for his deployment 1 year out, instead of 6 months. I'm down in Jacksonville, alone, packing up my house and getting it ready to rent. I had to drive to Pennsylvania to drop off Juliana with my sister for 2 weeks, so I could get this smurf done. I miss my husband, and my daughter...

I know where you're at right now. I'm right there with you. I can honestly say I understand. But, sometimes we have to bite down, as much as we hate it, and raise our families..move on with life.

My heart hurts for you..it hurts for me. If you want to talk, pm me. I don't have friends here either. I was stationed here from 2005_2009, then again with the hubs. Been here since 2011, and it hasn't changed. The people still suck, the town still sucks..

I know how you feel. I don't make friends well when we PCS. I still talk to my friends from our first station, though. It was our first deployment, and we were overseas. we all leaned on each other. I think that's why we bonded so well, and now no one else seems to stick.

I'm in Stewart, a few hours drive. we have to go to Gordon a lot for my hubby's medical appointments. we have never stayed and hung out there, but I know in Augusta there are a lot of museums and historical houses.. and there is a trolley ride. Next time we are there I want to take my kids to Fort Discovery. it has cool science exhibits for kids, like larger than life bug displays, or a moonwalk simulator...

Might be worth it to pay for a moving company. Sanity is ALWAYS worth it lol.

Don't focus on the amount of time you're going to get with him, just make every single moment count.

Well I'm sorry to hear you know how I feel. I've never been one to get super emotional about much of anything at all but this is really getting to me. I think all of the stress of moving to a new address for the fourth time in one year (3rd state...) and rearing a toddler basically alone is getting to me. But like I said before, it could be worse. I feel like a child for complaining when I hear some people talk about what they have to go through...

You know, seven Marines died from here last night and I can't imagine their wives having to open their doors to two guys apologizing. That is one of the most horrifying things I can think of. It's why I try not to complain because over 4,000 people in the past 12 years have had to go through that while I sit here and complain about my husband being gone for six months.

Oh we did. We're using Rainbow Movers. They picked up our stuff yesterday but were a little late. Someone had to be there to watch them handle our stuff apparently and sign some paperwork and thankfully one of my friends from Charleston's husband just finished TBS and they're still there for a few more weeks. She was able to do all of that for me. I am so thankful for that... I can't imagine how pissed I would have been having to hop on the car and drive that many hours just to sign some paperwork and watch some people pack stuff up. Even my husband had to talk to them and send a copy of his license and a handwritten note saying it was okay for her to represent us. We had way more trouble with the storage people than the movers though, that's for sure.

It's supposed to be here on the 25th (how it takes a week to drive a few hundred miles, I don't know), a few days before my husband gets home. That house is going to look like a hell hole, lol.

If you guys are near I-20 there is a theme park type place with go carts and stuff that's fun to go to. We've stopped there on our way to and from places. I forget what it's called but it's pretty much right by the state line on the GA side.

I just feel like he's already gone. Ugh. I'm turning a six month deployment into an almost year long one just by thinking about it too much, heh.

I just hope something crazy happens and they all get to come home before 2014. This is one of the reasons I'm glad Obama is still president (not to get political, I don't want to debate that here). At least there's a guarantee we will be out of Afghanistan some time in 2014 or else he might be gone for a year instead of six months.

I don't trust that. I've never trusted "they'll be home by such and such date." It's just my way of protecting myself and not letting my hopes up only to get smashed later on. For now I'll just tell myself, "Hell be home some time during 2014."
