We were walking around the px today trying to find the washers and we passed the baby aisle like 3 times, I saw my husband eyeballing the stuff but I didn't think anything of it. We go to check out and he says, " do you....do you wanna have a baby?" I could not stop laughing he made it sound like he was going to propose again lol I told him maybe when he reenlist again we could discuss it but right now even the mere thought of being pregnant and carrying a child makes me violently ill. I have sworn off kids because DD and to think at one point I wanted 6 kids!!!

me too! we stopped at 4 lol. honestly if finances were better, and I wasn't terrified of having another c-section, I'd have more. but for our situation, 4 is more than enough.

OMG.

rant time.

So, DH is coming home pretty darn soon. Our original plan was that DD and myself would be driving down and flying back to Montana (we're finishing the school year here and impatiently ( ) waiting for a house back in Fort Riley). Well DH's family (siblings/parents) decided they also wanted to come down for the redeployment ceremony, which I had no problem with and DH said he wanted them there, so of course I want them there too.

But they just.. don't understand the military and how it's always, "hurry up and wait"

They're seriously pissed off that we don't have a date/time he's going to be home yet and their pissed at me for not wanting to leave until I DO have a day. MIL just told me that I can fly home by myself because I didn't want to leave a week earlier than he's going to be home to spend only a day with him.   And they keep telling me how annoying this is and blah blah blah.

Yeah, I understand and everything, but I'm used to it and it really doesn't faze me anymore when dates do change. I'm glad they're going and everything.. but I seriously don't need anymore stress than there already is.

/end rant, sorry.

I just had to get it out of my system.

They're literally calling/texting me from 8am-11pm and seeing if I know anything different, EVEN though I've told each of them that as soon as I know something I will let them know. And then they get mad when I don't answer or it takes a while to call them back, like sorry, but I am working..

My husband is 100% going to Afghanistan in July. It was either that or Africa. I would MUCH rather Afghanistan given what's going on in Africa... He would be helping with getting everyone out of there. Apparently we might be gone before 2014 comes!

Of course I'm really sad. He will more than likely get promoted while he's out there but I don't care about that. I care about his safety. Fortunately he's not in infantry and the province he will be in seems to be... okay.

It's either this or wait until he gets another deployment that would be a guaranteed one year + away from home in who knows where. He has been in over eight years without a single deployment so he needs one under his belt at this point in his career (he's a lifer) so I would much rather we get it out of the way now, especially if it's the shorter of the two options.

So come four months from now I'm gonna be bitching and moaning about him being gone. Sigh =/

In other news, this weather sucks a bag of dicks. I didn't know if I was going to make it home from the doctor earlier. I hydroplaned no less than 10 times in standing water that went across the road. It's impossible to see until the very last second when it's pitch black like this.

That sucks, but i agree I'd rather Afghanistan over Africa no matter the job. I'm glad hes getting an opportunity to deploy at least since hes interested in staying in 20+ I have so many friends that are admin or jobs that never deploy and they'll likely be phased out.

Yeah, I have a feeling Africa is the next smurf hole we'll get sent to =/ Has anyone ever watched the Vice documentary on Youtube about Libya? It's smurfing crazy. Spend 45 minutes of your time watching it and it will blow your mind.

As for getting deployed, yeah. I'm thinking if he hadn't taken the path he has he would have been phased out already. Eight years without a single deployment is unheard of just about (not totally, but when six of those years were enlisted it starts to get less and less likely). And because he's a lifer and wants to advance his career this is just something he has to do. We knew he would eventually so I'm just glad it looks like it will only be for six months and while everything is winding down!

Marissa, I'm sorry to hear your husband is going too =( We can bitch and moan to one another when ever times get tough, lol. I have no problem lending an ear.

Hubby just informed me that after this deployment he will probably get out. he's been in 7 1/2 years and he is good at his job. but he wants to go back to welding school, and get a good welding job. but he also wants to go to motorcycle mechanics school. he says a good welder can be useful in a shop like that... it scares me to think of getting out tho. he keeps talking about how much money he can make as a welder.. but he gave me this same speech 9 years ago when I gave up everything and moved for his school.. and then he didnt finish...

Why doesn't he just use his TA to go to welding school while he's in? Then get some job offers, and THEN get out. In this economy, I wouldn't get out unless I had absolutely something solid in place, and not just school with the GI bill

well he is deploying in a month, and only has about a month left once he gets home. dont think he has time for that.. unless he reenlists again.. and I dont know the rules on "indefinite" but this will be his 3rd re-up...
