I love Beaufort! Have you been to Hilton Head yet? Or Charleston? Both are really close by and awesome places to visit for a weekend (well, Hilton Head can be a day trip but Charleston is about an hour and a half north). As for finding friends are there any Facebook pages for your area? That's the first place I look when moving someplace new. That and have my husband figure out who else has wives and young children, lol.

I've drove through Hilton head but I have no clue what there is to do out here so I have stopped and checked it out. My husband just checked in today and only works with 2 other marines so idk if he's in depth talked to them yet

That's just the generic list of stuff but once you get settled and learn the restaurants, stores, businesses, etc. you'll find even more stuff to do.

I know how you feel right now though. I just moved to Jacksonville, NC and I'm trying really hard to be excited about it but everything I've seen so far is depressing as smurf. I talked to a Marine I've known since high school the other night and he swears there's stuff to do here so I'm going to keep an open mind. I think moving on base will help a lot but until then I'm kind of isolated, don't know anyone, etc. It sucks.

I live on base but my next door neighbor gives me the dirtiest looks   and when I go to the Px which I have to drive to Paris island for it seems like no one is friendly and this place seems to have nothing. I wish I was in NC I have friends out there... I feel so alone lol. But thanks for the link ill be sure to check it out

yup, as soon as he gets on the boat (and often before) she goes home, and stays there the entire time. then he gets home and no one is there.. then she bitches when she has to keep changing his flights for home because his unit got delayed. um, if you were home (at their station) when he came in he wouldn't have to fly to you in the first place...

thats where my brother was stationed before his deployment. it figures, as soon as I come to GA he leaves SC. we're not far from Savannah, and he said they used to go there, hilton head, and tybee island a lot.

It will get better. You've only been there for a week and I'm sure the dirty looks are mostly in your head. I know it's easy to think everyone is looking at you and saying or thinking things but chances are they don't even really notice you, lol. Is your neighbor a Marine or married to one? Maybe you guys could introduce yourselves to them one evening?

We live on base and yea her husband is a marine but the sad thing is even my husband noticed the dirty looks lol but once I see her again I'm going to go try to talk to her and make a friend lol

I just can't imagine not being there waiting for him when he gets back.Unless she's sick or has a really good excuse to not be there she's just a bitch for being that way, plain and simple. Sad =(

This is kinda OT but has she ever had an affair? I don't want to throw stones here but it sounds like she just plain doesn't give smurf. If someone's in love with their husband they're going to do everything they can to greet him after a deployment.

I love the housing we have a nice 4bedroom and its clean and very nice living community the schools and daycare are all in the living community only thing for the commissary and PX we have to drive to Parris island

My husband said something about Marsh Landing for housing. I think that was it. I am just excited to move back east
