Everyone told me not to move home too and I'm so glad that I did. I'm renting a house that's half the price of our place in KS and it's been so much better having family and friends with me during this deployment.

Thankfully it hasn't been that big of a hassle either, it was super easy to get everything moved up here and we're going to pack up everything and move it back when he has his 30 days of leave in March!

Yeah. I am really thinking about moving home... I miss home a lot and it would be so much easier for me and Payton to be around friends and family. I only know like 1 person down here and she is moving in July.

Yeah, I honestly wouldn't have done it any other way. I have "friends" in KS, but my best friends are in my hometown and the older I get, it's harder to build friendships, ya know? Even my in laws just told my husband this morning that they're so incredibly glad DD and I moved back home because we've all gotten a lot closer and they've got to spend a lot of time with my daughter.

I understand wanting to be closer to home. if there was a way for me to save money on my BAH while I went home, I'd do that. but so far, it costs more for rent and utilities than what I would receive, so I'm just gonna have to stay on post and live in base housing for free...

We lucked out, I'm renting a 3 bedroom house for only $550/month and it's only a six month lease (which we've already passed!), so it's worked out really well for us!

that's awesome. hubby started looking online for realtors in our hometown. he wants us to start buying a house back home while we are still in the army... assuming we get out of debt and have money left after bills each month to pay for a house we aren't even living in.

We've actually talked about doing that as well! I'm just iffy about it, because my husband is so damn indecisive. He'll be ready to get out and then knowing him, he'll want to reenlist, so I just keep telling him to hold his horses and we can just keep saving for a bigger down payment.

we have about a year left (basically after this deployment is over) and hubby has the chance to reup again. if he does he will be indefinite. if he does that we will probably do the house thing.

Yeah, my husband after going on and on about how he doesn't want to stay in and he wants to be closer to family, just re-upped a couple months ago while on his deployment.  

J+D, glad to hear your husband's surgery went well. I'm late, I know.
