re: Military Families

My husband was made to watch a PSA concerning bath salts today (er, yesterday). He showed it to me when he got home and that smurf is scary! Bath salts weren't around back in my heydays and all I had seen about them were just news clips and articles here and there. Apparently it's a decent problem with a lot of young service members and the Corpsmen here at Lejeuene have actually seen people freak out on it before.

Anyway, he has only been here for a week and they're already loading him with tons of work. He has to put all of Camp Lejeuene's protocols in writing within the next two weeks so bye bye, husband. It was nice knowing you those few weeks you were actually free, heh. Can you imagine documenting every single thing like that? I'm glad I'm not him right now. (Edit: Before anyone yells at me none of this is top secret and it's all published and out there.)

(It's okay, he could be deployed so I try not to complain much.)

Not when you live in AK and there's no base CDC within 600 miles of you.

well we're home. surgery went as planned and doctors think it worked. we won't know until the bandages come off and it starts to heal however. Hubby is still very sore, and has trouble sleeping, and he can't ride his motorcycle. I think that's the part he hates more than anything lol. thank you all for your prayers.

thank you honey! I'm a little worried because we aren't supposed to change the bandages for 5 days, but last night he could feel blood coming through one spot and I'm afraid it got rubbed underneath or something. he asked if I want to go with him Monday to his appointment, but the kids can't miss more school, so hopefully whatever they do that day won't be more painful for him, because he won't be able to drive if he has to take his meds.

thanks   they seem to think it was good. they only operated on the back of his head. he said if it was successful he would want them to do the sides later.

Are there any over-the-counter pain meds he can take between doses of the heavier stuff that he could maybe take 30-60 minutes before his appointment just in case? That might help if anything is going to be painful.

Also, do they have any better idea after the surgery of what exactly this is or what caused it? I am extremely interested. Hoping the best for your husband; what a thing to go through.

so far they havent told us anything we didn't know before. we have been told certain skin types are more prone to it (which he doesnt fit into), certain ethnicities are more prone to it (doesnt fit them either), and bacterial infection is not the primary cause.

Not unless I decide to move home. Which I have been thinking about. A lot of people are telling me it would be such a hassle but I would much rather spend a year near family then down here alone.

well, I've done both. when we were stationed in Germany hubby deployed, and I stayed there, except for the summer I went to stay with family. being overseas, not having to pay any rent or anything we saved so much money. then last year he was in korea, and I stayed home with family the entire year. I had help with my kids and that was great, but ended up saving no money in the end. this time when he leaves I am staying here. my kids are in school and I don't want to move them again.

Yeah. At first my mom said I could live with her but then my step dad had some health issues and he can't handle having a 2 year old around all day so that got thrown out the window. If I move home I will more than likely have to rent a place of my own and all of that so we still have to talk about it. Unfortunately he is leaving pretty soon so we don't have too long to decide.
