Guess it's a good thing we live on post & that BAH doesn't lower to the current rate...that's like $100 less than what get now. I wonder what their raise will be this year [if any]...

ladies, have any of you experienced a SO or friend who returned from Iraq/Afghanistan with an illness, or some unexplained health issue? 5 years ago my husband returned from his first deployment, and the first week I noticed a bump on his head, raised and bald. since then he has many specialists, dermatologists, and today a plastic surgeon. since that first bump, they have multiplied and cover the majority of the back and sides of his head. at first doctors said they were cysts, but then they said ingrown hairs, then it was dissecting cellulitis of the scalp. they hurt, and they pop puss and bleed. no doctor has ever been able to tell him what caused it, but say it is more than likely chronic and there's nothing to do about it. for 4 years they just kept upping his doses of antibiotics, he was up to 1000 mg a day. and he even went on some experimental drugs but quickly stopped due to side effects. today, the plastic surgeon told him he will do surgery. he is going to peel back his scalp and "clean it out" and hope it works. but this is a first for this plastic surgeon as well.... I'm scared, but he said he is tired of hurting, and not being able to sleep, and people staring at him.. he's gonna do it...

Ouch! It almost sounda like mrsa, but antibiotics should fix that. I hope the surgery works

thank you! they told him he should be back to work in 2 weeks, then on profile for another 2 weeks.. hope it's that simple

it is. since that deployment we have moved 4 times.. every time he would get established with a doctor or a specialist, we would get moved... and then he deployed.. and now he's getting ready to deploy again   he just wants this to be fixed...

I hope your husband finds some relief with the procedure. That looks so painful. I can't believe no one has been able to figure it out...

My husband takes his physical fitness test next week, and we are hoping to have all the papers the recruiter needs to the recruiter in the next month or so, and then my husband will be signing his contract and will be sworn in. The recruiter said by May he should be off to basic.
He is all kinds of excited. I am too... I should be fresh out of school by then and have a job so that will help raise our income by a good bit so I wont have to worry so much about paying bills while he is gone.

we live in North Bryan on Stewart (older housing). they say it was refurbished before we moved in, but I think all they did was paint the walls white
