It can take awhile to reconnect and its ok to be selfish(not wanting people to visit) even though you arent being selfish at all! Its an emotional time. A lot of units offer marriage retreats before and after deployments because everything takes awhile to fall back into place.

I have no clue what that MOS does LOL. But I would def commission for the better pay after going to school for 4 years LOL
T does signal. His degree is electrical engineering from WP. He was a medic when he was enlisted. He's doing career since he already has 10 invested.

@ Jada

It would be easier if family wasn't there for you to reconnect. I felt the same way as you do when I was married to my ex and his family came for his redeployment ceremony. It wasn't focused on our family, but them wanting all the attention.

Yeah, we're discussing the whole reenlistment thing now since after he gets home it will be about 15 months from raising his hand or getting out

Can make more on the outside, but it's a scary civilian world out there.

Yep, we see it all the time with friends that got out last time he reenlisted. They're trying to come back in and there arent any spaces in their original field, having to retrain in something else.

Well, they are sending soldiers down range and are sending some who left first back. He hasn't been gone long, but our kids are so small that they changed so quickly. Plus, I was 6 weeks when he left. At least my parents will be at a hotel and traveling some of that time. I'm very excited to have him back, but I seriously have a million scenarios going through my head on what to expect. And Thank you. My kids are going to freak out when they see him and he isn't on Skype or a pic.

I did not even see you were expecting until you just said something. Wow, yeah...I'd be happy my parents were staying in a hotel at least.

They won't be here when he gets back thank God, but it's really the only time they can ever come while we are here. My parents, thank God, really decided to come last January when he got orders here. But they will be staying at a hotel. They have helped me tremendously through this deployment and i feel it will be a smack in the face if i tell them not to come spend the holidays here. they will be here a week at most, but im hoping for smooth times.

Since I only get two hours notice when my DH will be in route, I have no plans to tell anyone until reunion, feasting, and family time has occurred. I'm sure we will let my mil know he is back safely though.

Yes. I went back to the states for a few months because I was so sick. But we have little room for anyone else anyway!

Oh it could always change. That pretty much goes without saying, heh.

Well it wasn't a sure thing to begin with. We were just assuming he would deploy because the unit he will be joining in NC come January is about to start a new cycle from what we understand. Fortunately he is in public affairs so he wouldn't be on the front lines very often which makes me feel much better about any future deployments that will eventually happen.

He has been in the Marines since 2005 and was originally sent to 8th & I for over three years for public affairs because they liked his face and his voice   After that he applied for the MECEP program to finish his degree and that's how he ended up in college at The Citadel for two years. The past year has been very hectic and six months of it was spent in VA at TBS (The Basic School) where he learned that although he wanted infantry or aviation he was actually given public affairs yet again. He was originally given aviation and even received orders for Pensacola to start flight school but upon further review they found out about an old head injury which DQed him. After that they gave him PA over infantry which was actually not that surprising after his first three years in the Marines. I guess they just really like him as a PA person. I know his heart was with aviation or infantry (or even tanks) but he's happy with what he got and I am too considering how much safer it can be, lol.

Dunno why I just typed all that up. I guess it sort of helps explain why he has made it nearly eight years without getting deployed a single time. I imagine him being in PA has something to do with why he thinks he's not getting deployed as they only send a very few men and women from that billet overseas at any given time so maybe that's what it is.
