Its ok lol I'm sure things are a lot different. Things are always changing. Our friend is a former Marine, stationed at Camp Pendleton in the early 2000, when he came to visit a couple years ago he was completely awe struck.

I'm hoping if we end up there in three plus years it will be as nice as it was when our family and friends were stationed there over the past decade.

I don't know the reason but my husband seems to think he will NOT deploy in 2013 and is confident enough in this possibility that he has enrolled in a master's program via the Citadel (the school he graduated from after finishing the MECEP program).

I am beside myself. I have spent the last six months thinking he would be gone sometime early in 2013 and quite frankly I don't believe it. My husband has a great [true] story regarding the military in general: A young service member was complaining about having to do a bunch of work and an officer overheard him. The officer turned to him and asked, "Do you really want to know why the Marine Corps makes you do these things?" The young guy says, "Yeah!" And the officer replies, "Because smurf you, that's why."

And it's true! "Because smurf you, that's why," has summed up our entire experience thus far, lol. THIS is why I'm not getting excited yet. If it's too good to be true it generally is, yeah?

I'm glad he's doing his masters  . It will be good he won't deploy....but couldn't that change?

T is doing his overseas...but his deployment is pretty plush compared to MC.

Yeah, B had to suspend his courses for this deployment. There is absolutely no way he could have continued and maintained his gpa

He is still working on it. He hasnt had too much time for school since moving to Marsoc. Hes gone every month for training and then the deployments.

I am beside myself.... Is it normal to have so many emotions the week of or before a homecoming? My family (mom, step dad and sis) is supposed to visit in two weeks, but I really am hoping that they get delayed or something. I really want my husband and kids to myself. But I guess we get baby sitters out of this! My husband has this magical idea we will pick up where we left off. I think it will take time as everything has just about changed.

Please don't quote. I feel horrible, but they have been planning this trip for a year.
