That is how I interpreted it. I'm guessing that is why the recruiter told you it wasnt likely that it would happen because of how they start out, the different phases.

I don't know anyone personally who has done it but I know people have done it before. It all just depends on the person.

His training is long enough that you can accompany him. I don't have any info on the specifics.

yeah my friend who is stationed at alaska says that if its over 6 months then we should be allowed to go....either way I think we might just move out to the area prior to him going that way if we do get to move with him I dont have to move all the way there by myself with the kids and the cat and even if they dont he should still get weekend passes and I dont want him to miss his daughters first birthday.

If you end up off base, rent a house, not apartment and talk to Sundance Rentals. Look for something west of 38th St and if the address is anywhere between 21st and 10th St. run far away. That's what we call the View and is our gang activity area. If you can afford to, look around SW 67th or the Terrace Hills area. Don't do Ranch Oaks, it's Crypt territory!

If he is doing radar, you will likely be at Ft. Sill for many years. I know I've come across as a bitch, but if you have any questions about Lawton, let me know. I've been here my whole life.

So DH went to a different branch recruiter & filed his paperwork. So now we're going Navy!
All of his paperwork is in & we're just waiting on them to send him out for MEPS, but apparently when he was in the recruiters office for the first time he already took his ASVAB. I thought you don't take the ASVAB until you go to MEPS?
Anybody know anything about this?

He probably took a practice ASVAB while he was at the recruiters office but he will take an official one once he goes to MEPS.

Were you guys required to take the ASVAB in high school? They didn't do it at the private school I went to but at the public school I went to they required it. I don't remember what I scored, just that recruiters started calling. This was back in 2005 though when they were on the upswing and not downsizing. Anyway, did you guys have to?

Offered, but wasn't required. I took it and two days later, when I got home from school, there were recruiters from the Air Force and Marines arguing on my lawn.

Ended up spending 13 weeks at Parris Island and dislocated my ankle on the Cruicible badly enough to get a waiverable medical discharge. If DH wasn't going career, I would be trying to go back in.
