Navy Wives....i need some advice =)

So my husband is currently in his fifth week of boot camp. I received a letter from him today saying that he has decided he wants to do a full 20 years in the Navy. He loves it and i want to support him all the way. What makes him happy, makes me happy. My question is, does it get easier? I know that this means much more time apart. But will i get used to it after a while? And also, once their active duty is finished, will he get some more time at home? Thanks ladies!

okay well my hubby was in the navy, and honestly it all depends on his job after hes done with boot camp and his a school, he may change his mind about liking it trust me.. anyways you will get use to being apart, however if you live on base you will be able to make friends with the other navy wives, and he may not nesecarily get sent over seas or at least not to somewhere you cant go with him, my best friend and he hubby moved to italy last dec...
it will be okay i promise do you know where he is getting stationed after a school??

i don't know where he is stationed yet, he doesn't know either. but we do know that he has a job as an IT and his a school is in pensacola florida. i hope it gets easier!

okay well i dont think that he will have to go overseas, do you know if hes going to be on a sub or a ship or is he going to stay on land/??

uhmmm i'm not positive about that. if they got to choose, i am sure he chose land. just especially because of the baby, he wants to be here as much as possible ya know?  but do they get a choice on that? or do they just get told where they're going?

i think they get a choice it just depends on the job, im not exactly sure but i am talkin to a friend about it her hubby is in the navy too, and what exactly is an it?? sorry our hubbys were mp's military police..

lol its okay, an IT is an informations system technician 
i believe it's all computer stuff.

well shes not really sure either but i think he will be on land, i am not sure about overseas, but yeah anyways my hubby got to chose which base he wanted to go to he had two diff choices. so yeah. i will ask my hubby when he gets home from work in the am, or if he calls me and i will let you know what he says.

its not a problem i miss the military life really it was great i loved it..

really?! ahh i hope i like it too then! the onnnly thing that's hard, is not having phill around. i just love him so much, i adore his company, he's my best friend. i can never get sick of having him around, so being without him is so foreign to me right now.

yeha i know what you mean. seriously, its the same with my hubby when he was in the navy he worked 16 hr shifts and so if he wasnt at work he was alseep untill he had a day off, but i made the greatest of gfriends, and i alway s hung out with them while our hubbys were at work, you just have to watch who you trust esp if you live on base, cuz some of them are back stabbers like highschool drama all over again lol

oh god..i could never deal with highschool drama when i was in highschool, and i sure as hell don't need that immaturity in my life now! i've got a baby to take care of, and i'm staying focused! phill wants to live off-base =) i am excited to meet people though, i'm definitely open to it. once i go to school for cosmetology, i really want to open a salon near the base, and do the navy wive's hair for cheap. more like a fun kind of career thing.

yeah but you know if you live on base like the only bills you have is for your cable and home telephone that will save you a bunch of money esp with the baby.

well i talked to my hubby and he said hes not really even sure and sometime they dont get a choice they get told, but if he does go over seas and u cant go, he gets alot of money on top of his base pay.
