Baby's Heartrate...question
posted 21st Jun '07
I'm 15.6 weeks pregnant measuring 16.1 weeks. I had a sono today and the heartrate was 144. I think this is normal, right. The only thing that concerns me is at 8.4 weeks the heartrate was 175, at 12 weeks it was 161 and at 12.5 weeks it was 160. Is it normal for it to fluctuate THAT much?? The sono that I had today showed everything was perfect with the baby, but now I'm just kinda nervous about the decrease. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

144 is really good, the other ones seemed high but that was in the begining and it is a much smaller heart then so it beats a lot faster. Your just worrying (thats what we do) but unless your doc says something just breath and know that your little one is doing what its supposed to be doing.

My doctor told me that the heart rate continues to rise and then it will go down a little and level off. So it sounds like it leveled off. It will probably stay at about 140-150 for the rest of the time. My first 4 appointments that they have checked the heartbeat it has been going up. He told me the next time they check it should be down a little and then stay level. I hope that makes sense. Anything between 120 and 180 is normal. It can fluctuate also depending on what the baby is doing in there. (sleeping, moving around)

Yeah my doc said the same thing it goes up and down. When they checked me at 7 and 8 weeks it was in the 160's on Monday it was 151.

Thanks ladies...I was just nervous. I got into a little fender bender today and that's why I had the sono. I guess I knew it was supposed to go up and down but it just seemed like a big gap!! I guess I'm just a worry-wort!

Ouch sorry about the fender bender! Did they check to see boy or girl?

They didn't check and I didn't ask because I was in there for a completely different reason; I didn't think it was the right time to ask. Also, I don't know if I wanna find out...I'm kinda on the fence about it so it is up to my husband to decide and he was not allowed in the sonogram room at the hospital (not too sure why though).

That is wierd that they did not let him in. When I was in the ER at 7 weeks they checked the baby and my husband was allowed to come in. Although now that I think about it the ER nurse said that when we got down to the ultrasound room they would have to ask the tech if my husband could come in or not. She was nice though and said yes. Ya, I don't know if I really want to know either, but my husband does so we will find out I guess.

Yeahm it's just so weird...I mean, he made the baby too so why can't he see it!

When I was in the emergency room at 5 weeks for some bleeding, they wouldn't let my husband come in either-but at the hospital for the follow up sonograms, he was allowed in. I think if they are scheduled, they are allowed in-but if it is a 'need to get it done' thing-they would rather just hurry through it, without worrying about visitors.
