Baby is in Breech Position!

posted 21st Jun '07
I had my 35 week checkup today, and a lot has changed in the last 2 weeks. 2 weeks ago I was told that Brayden was head down and in position, but no dilating or thinning out yet. Today I had my Group B Strep test done, and when they checked my cervix, I was 3cm dilated and 60% thinned out, and she even felt his head (or what she thought was his head). I was a little excited even though I thought it was a little too early, but with my daughter I walked around for 3 weeks 3 cm dilated, so I figured I was fine! Well she wanted to do an ultrasound to check my fluid levels and see how much the baby weighed. As soon as the ultrasound tech put the wand on my tummy, she realized the baby is in a breech position, and it was not the head they have been feeling, it's his butt cheek! So I go every week now from here on out and have an ultrasound done everytime to see if he is going to turn! He weighs exactly 6lbs all ready! If he does not turn before I go into labor, I will have to have a C-section of course. Which I pray he turns at anytime now! Right after my exam he started moving around a lot, and I have been having some cramps and irregular contractions. So I went to my mother-in-laws house to pick up my daughter, I had to go to restroom bad, and noticed my underwear was a little wet and some spotting, then it got heavier as I would wipe. I called the nurse and she said it was normal to bleed a little after checking my cervix and that my fluids were fine this morning, but to time my contractions, if they got too strong or on a regular basis to come into the ER!! I just want him to turn before that happens. So thats my update, she said I MIGHT have 2 weeks left!.....(I had my daughter at 37 weeks also, and she was very healthy!!)

talk to robin2under2...her first was in the frank breech position too.

He still has time. There are babies that change position just before delivery.

Ask TLS...hers was head down and just before delivery was breech.

Good luck!

Thanks, they said he could still turn thats why they are going to do an ultrasound every week now in hopes of him doing so! The nurse joked about little boys sometimes being more stubborn about those things!
