What do you think the biggest signs of child abuse are?

What do you think the biggest signs of child abuse are in behavior? How can you tell? Thanks.

My niece was staying with two losers for a long amount of time. I am watching her a couple days a week and noticed some changes in particular things she does.

Anger
Defensiveness

Acting different while playing/not playing at all
Crying for no reason
Crying when having to use the restroom
Distant
Less talking (if she did to begin with)

Depends on what kind of abuse is going on. Are you suspecting sexual, physical, emotional, or neglect?

Very emotional when you do certain things.

Her other grandmother was leaving her in a play pen/crib all day... staying back in her room leaving my niece to be by herself.

She has smacked her hands when I told her no. Which makes me wonder if she was hitting her.

I told myself i didn't want to know, because I want to go freaking choke slam her stupid excuse of a grandmother. But I want more information.

Some take it out in anger then some shy away and become more shy and secluded
Depending on the abuse they could be jumpy to loud sounds and quick movement.

The doctors checked her for being molested and they said no. But I just don't know how valid it is.

Poor girl =[ I think it's better that you know, that way you can help. Can she live with anyone else ?

It sounds like she is suffering from neglect. Poor baby.  

I had DCF training at my job and one of the major things was fear at being touched or when someone threatens to hit the child. Some parents just threaten (not that its ok) but some follow through and we needed to determine if the mom was making idol threats or if she was in fact hitting the child.
I dont think this is something you can try b/c you don't want her to think you will hit her.
I sure hope she is ok and is not being abused.

It sounds like the other grandmother could've been disciplining her for no reason at all other than just being there and needing something.

That's good. Those are pretty accurate in young children.
