Actually a baby surviving at 20 weeks is unheard of. The chances of survival are basically 0% since the baby is missing out on those precious days in the womb that they can develop vitals such as lungs and organs. The earliest recorded preemie to live was like almost 22 weeks or something like that. If your friends baby was really a 20 weeker she would be in medical journals all around the world as a miracle.

Quoting Mama on bedrest *30 weeks:“ Exactly, most babies are on TPN/IV for at least 2 days... so how could they suddenly take full bottle ... [snip!] ... 5 days   It takes wayyyy longer than that to up them to all oral feeds. Mhhh no point, she's obviously full of shit.”

They told me they wasnt even going to even attempt to try and feed my son until 32-34 weeks either bc thats when they start to develope their suctioning and before then they cant really learn to bottle feed right.

Not to mention once he did start trying to, it still took him weeks before he could gett all his feeding through a bottle.

My baby was also a 36 week baby and she was a chunker! 7 lbs 4 oz! I can only imagine what she would've been if she stayed in longer.

Now she's saying the 28 weeker was actually a 25 weeker (which would match up with 1lb 3oz more).... so the baby was bottle fed by 26 weeks, 4lbs and at home (she drove the baby herself lol) at 29 weeks gest.

I couldn't even imagine them trying a 29 weeker with the car seat test, or even rooming in with them for that matter!

Can they even hold their temp by then? lol I know my son couldnt. I wonder where you find car seats little enough too lol.

It'd be impossible for them under 32 weeks, they'd be losing weight like crazy from burning so much energy. Here they don't go into an open crib until around 34 weeks... and when they're born micro preemies it usually takes even longer. I couldn't imagine the poor soul trying to breathe and take a bottle and trying to stay warm all at the same time, not least the fact that baby "didn't have any skull"!

I know they let some of them go in those carry cot type car seats, but they still have to be able to do everything in a regular seated position. It'd have to be a dolls car seat lol
