Honey for babies?

I heard from my mom that you're not supposed to give babies honey. My doctor has never mentioned it.... is this true?? And if so, why is it true?

True! It can give them bochelisism (sp). Honey harbors bacteria that babies aren't equiped to fight off.

not until they are a year old is what ive heard and i heard it was because of bacteria or something like that

It's 2 years, and it's because it can cause botulism (the same bacteria they use in botox.) and kill the child.

Huh. I didn't know. The only thing I could think of was maybe they could have an allergic reaction.... but I've never heard of anyone who was allergic to honey lol...

Yep, this is true. Not until after a year can they have it

I read that when babies eat honey, their skin releases a chemical that attracts hungry kittuns, and there will be so many kittens swarming around to lick your baby's skin, that it can become frustrating, and if a kitten gets upset, it could scratch the baby!

lovely. i didnt know any of this... and i just found out my wonderful mother in law put honey on tylers binky to get him to take it.
