Anterior Fibroid.

posted 9th Jun '09
Well my dr sent me my records (I'm switching to another practice because my current dr is leaving the one I am at and all the others that he is in a partnership with I really dont like). So I was going over them to see what he had to say, and came across the mentioning of a anterior fibroid and a corpus luteum cyst on my left ovary, which is swollen. So I was trying to do some research on the topic because no one ever told me and all I can find are negative things. So I was just wondering if anyone has had any expierence with this.
If so is there anyway it might harm the baby?
My boyfriend seems to think that if something were really wrong they would have said something to me and I am over reacting.
But I find it hard that the dr would have said anything seening as I have never seen him for more then 3 minuets total every visit and was never asked if I had questions. I had to cut him off to get a word in. (Another reason I am leaving and going somewhere else).

Sorry this was long and about any spelling, and thanks for any advice in advance.

the type of cyst you are talking about is very common during pregnancy. they only know about it if you get a first trimester u/s though, when you ovulate on the ovary you ovulate from you get a tiny little cyst. if you get pregnant it stays around until the placenta starts working if you dont get pregnant it goes away on its own. I know nothing about fibroids though, im sorry dear. ask the new doc!

I know. It was so frustrating. He'd come in. Do the heart beat. Not ask how I was feeling, not ask if I had any questions.. Scribble down something, annnd tell me to go make an appt for a month. Which was even more annoying because I have a history of preterm birth and he doesnt do or say anything about it. Ugh.

I thought the cyst was common, because I know that people have them all the time and they burst and thats it. Thank you though. I am such a worry wort.

My dr thought i may have a fibroid because my uterus has been measuring 2 weeks ahead of my dd but the baby is measuring right on my dd and i have a family history of girl parts cancer and fibroids. Basically from what he told me, they just watch them because there isnt anything they can do about them during pregnancy. They just watch them to make sure they arent growing. From my understanding they feed off of estrogen and that can cause them to grow at a rapid rate because of the excess hormones we produce while pregnant. If that happens they grow to fast and run out of blood supply and basically suffocate and die off which from my understanding is when they become an issue.

So if he didnt say anything to you dont worry about it, yes he should have let you know, but as long as it is in your chart and the new dr can watch it as well then im sure there is nothing to worry about.

As far as the cyst i have no idea on that one. I know when my dr did my first us at 6 weeks i have a cyst on each ovary, he told me about them but hasnt mentioned it again since.... So i dont know anything about different types of cysts and whatnot, but my dr told me not to worry about either issue.

I would!! Just ask them about it tell them you were looking at the chart and were never told and are a bit concerned.
