Is this normal?

posted 8th Jun '09
Occasionally, I'll feel an almost crampy feeling in my lower abdomen and it also hurts my tummy when I sneeze or cough really hard. I'm kind of worried about this? I'm almost five weeks along so I'm still really early in my pregnancy. Anyone know about this?

Thanks guys. It completely sucks.. I cried last time I coughed really hard.   No bleeding so far, and it's not unbearably painful. Thanks for the info I was terrified. And Jessica, I live in Birmingham.

If it hurts that bad call your dr. Mine did not hurt bad enough to make me cry. It cant hurt to call your dr's office.

If you are terrified over little stuff like that, then how are you going to make it 9 months and then give birth? Seriously.

I am 9 months along and I had cramps so bad yesterday I thought I was going into labor, but I wasn't and I wasn't terrified. I couldn't even walk and I was at the store. I just got a bottle of water and sat on the bus stop until the pain subsided.

You really need to get more informed and this site isn't going to tell you everything. Get the book What to Expect When You Are Expecting and read it from cover to cover a few times.

just remember some people have no tolerance to pain. I would assume thats what is going on here, not something out of the ordinary. I got cramps all the time at first.

The whole terrified thing is subjective. I got a bad cramp when I bent over yesterday and it freaked me out. I wasn't terrified, but I was certainly scared with a million "what if's" going through my head. Terrified to her may just be slightly alarming to others. Just like levels of pain.

Thank you, Alyssa!

This is my first pregnancy ever, and I just want my baby to be healthy. I don't really understand why worrying about my baby is a problem. If you don't want to deal with my worrying, then move along and don't even respond, but there's no reason to be rude.

I used to worry about everything too. Especially early on. There's still small things that freak me out. Remember though, if it really worries you, it's always a good idea to give your doctor a call. They'll be able to point you in the right direction and calm your fears.
