It's time to get serious!

posted 1st Jun '09
I'm so done being fat! I keep saying I will try this diet or that diet and I may try it for a day or two and it never lasts! I am 6 months PP and 228 pounds! I was 215 when I got pregnant, 240 when I delivered and I honestly haven't made much effort since. So here is what I am going to do.....
I am going to publicly humiliate myself by telling the entire internet how much I weigh and showing some pics of what I look like with my shirt up   But that is going to motivate me to really put some effort into this weight loss plan so that I can come back in a few months and proudly show off my progress.

I am really going to give up the soda - for real this time!
I am going to cut back on the carbs... the bread, the pasta, all the yummy stuff...
I am going to add more veggies to my diet, and substitute baked and grilled meats instead of fried.
I am going to drink water! Lots of water! And I hate water but I am going to do it anyways.
I am going to move my ass in some way EVERYDAY. I will do some type of exercise such as walking, crunches, up and down the stairs, etc.... every day for at least 1 hour.
I am going to keep up this thread and report on what is going on in my journey.

Hopefully some motivational ladies on here will join me and we can keep each other on the right track. What do you think?

Here I am now. 228lbs. My goal is 150 long term but I want to crack the 200 mark in 3 months.

SO who wants to help me?

The BEST thing you can do on top of that great list you made? FIBER. Take capsules even. It really makes the biggest impact on any healthy diet.

Me! I'm so busy that I turn to Frozen dinners and fast food. I'm not a fan of soda so that's not an issue for me. I need veggies too! And I need to stop snacking! I don't have pics but I was 154 before pregnancy 200 when I delivered and am now 179. I'd like to be 130... but back to 150 ish would be acceptable to start. Good luck!

If I wasn't pregnant I'd join ya!
if you hate water get some crystal lite or propel packets.
I did that before I got pregnant this time and it helped me drink more water..
I still use them from time to time.

I lost 26 pounds on Weight Watcher on one point. Thats where I learned it. When they calculate the point values of food, they use the fat the calories and the fiber, carbs didnt even come into play. The higher the fiber, the more that helped bring DOWN the total point number. Fiber keeps it all moving out the other end of your system, which helps you lose more weight.

Ok! Great! And good luck to you too! Have you tried Lean Cuisine frozen dinners? They are pretty good and they have a good selection of different kinds of food. They even have paninis and flatbread sandwiches and pizza. Most of them are 300 calories or less.

if i remember correctly lean cuisines also have the point system for weight watchers, but i am not sure. meaning already calculated on the box.

I do like the Crystal light lemonade. That is what I drank when I was pregnant to stay away from soda. But once he was born, I got addicted to Dr Pepper all over again!

But I will overcome this addiction   Lol I sound like an alcoholic!

Yessss I was about to do the same thing, lol. Minus the pics, that is...though that's really good idea and I may have to do it tomorrow if I get brave enough.

Don't have much time to chat because it's bedtime (my thingy says WI but I really live in Germany), but I need to get my ass in gear. I am five and a half months postpartum and have lost 44 pounds, but I have 11 to go and I have plateaued. Since I am bfing I can't diet per se and am too afraid to even count calories, but there are things I know I can do to move along my weight loss.

height - 5'9"
pre-pregnancy weight - 155
highest weight - 210
current weight - 166
short term goal - 155
long term goal - 148

Here's my plan:
1) walk an hour a day, 5-6 days a week
2) run 2-3 miles at least twice a week
3) ab exercises three times a week
4) no carbs with or after dinner (unless it's an emergency, lol...I have low blood sugar)

I need to be held accountable for my actions, and I would love to be able to tattle on myself when I have misbehaved and have someone tell me to get back on the wagon! I'm always good for a day or two, but then as soon as I lose a pound or two I tell myself that now I can eat more.   Not how we lose weight, eh? And I have no problem walking daily, but I need to up the ante on the exercise and I have been letting myself slide waaaaaayyy too often.

Yep they do! I used em for a lot of lunches when I was on the plan. That and skinny cow fudge ice cream bars. They are only one point!!!

The trick is though that that only helps if you KNOW the total points you should be staying under daily.

I bought pills from the store. I think they are called Leptopril or something. They said "not for the casual dieter, for seriously overweight only". But I took them for like a week then stopped. They did help control my appetite though.
