spanking

do you believe in spanking? if so, why & at what age did you start spanking? if you do not believe in spanking why not? im at the fence with my beliefs about this and idk if i will spank my daughter or not, shes not of age right now though anyway. and im just curious about different peoples beliefs about it.

Personally I will never spank my child.  

yes i believe in it but i wont unless hes at least 2 & KNOWS better than what hes doing if its wrong.i have friends who dnt believe in punishing their kids & theyre all brats.it drives me nuts!

i think when she is old enough to understand y a little tap and i mean tap on the ass is ok -- i am still here and ok and i grew up with it -- not like i am gonna beat her ass but a little spank i thnk is ok

i would never spank my children.

I spank. I've been spanking since he was about 18 months old (he's two now.) I was spanked when I was younger, so I don't really see a problem with it. But he doesn't get spanked every time he does something wrong. We also have time out. He mostly gets spanked for big things, or if I've told him a million times and time out didn't work.

i spank. we started at about 13 minths. and its a last resort. i normally have an order... i say no dont do (bad action here) 3 times then i count to 3 and if they are still doinging then i spank (a light tap on a diapered butt) it normally doesnt get that far. when they get older it will be replaced with time outs and taking things away

I have a three year old and he has never been spanked and I do not plan on spanking him or Brady ever. Just not my personal choice in discipline. But everyone is entitled to their own way of doing things. Your kids are your kids.

when they are younger i will swat at their hands and tell them no...
but when they get old enough to understand what they are doing ill probably do time out and spanking ((only if they are doing really bad things))

I don't "believe" in spanking/swatting/etc.

I think there are other more effective ways to discipline children. JMO.

I don't like to spank but if its needed then I will do it!!

i agree you can always tell when a child isnt punished..they act like brats and do as they please because they get away with it. Its crazy when you see a child act like that towards adults. I was spanked as a child and i have the most respect for my parents. I belive in it and i will spank when necessary.

i always get people telling me how well behaved my boys are. i love it

i will spank, There is a difference between spanking for punishment and spanking as abuse. It is a last resort sort of thing, or if they are really bad....


eg. If a child is going to touch a hot stove, You give them a little swat on the hand, they will associate touch a hot stove with "thats going to hurt me" If you just say " NO HOT", Whats going to stop them ? mommy yelling at them ?

Also, spanking isn't the only form of punishment or discipline. I know plenty of spanked children that are brats. It has nothing to do with spanking or not, if you don't actually follow through and show that you are in charge they won't respect you no matter what form of discipline you try.
