yeah we try and stay consistant and make sure they are always disaplined for the same things the same way. and we let alot slide as well. if its not going to hurt them and its not disruptive we will allow them to do it and if they show they are good and can handle more "responsability" we let them have it. like today we went for a walk and they didnt want to hold my hand so i told them you stay near me and stay on the side walk. they never went more than 2 or my steps ahead of me

spank? like smack on the ass? no, never. the ONLY thing i do, which even i hate doing, is i flick or smack his hand if hes doing something hes going to get hurt doing...

... i.e. we have a box fan that right now is on the floor because its too cold to have on and in the window, and he likes to stick his fingers in the holes to the blades. I smack his hand (even when it isnt on, because he wont know the difference) and give him a firm "no". but its just enough for him to look at me funny and enough to know that he can't do it.

i know!my sister doesnt discipline hers & i cant even babysit for her because theyre so bad but when we were growing up we got spanked HARD when we did something & we nvr did it again.my parents said it worked because we were the best kids & they could take us anywhere.

I will use a crack on the ass as a last resort in cases of serious safety issues. An example, I told my 2yo not to stand on the chair, hmmm... about 50 billion times within 10 minutes. She proceeded to stand up again and smile. I swatted her butt and feel the shock factor works. My kids are not used to being spanked so when/if it happens, they know and remember that what they did was bad and will not be tolerated. Btw- my other child is only 7 months so obviously there is no spanking there.

they test me though. when i start counting they look at me and wait till i say "2... if i get to 3 your in trouble" they stop doing it right then. i think its kinda funny they wanna push thier limits.

I agree with you im not saying, spank the child for every little thing but they things that are important. My brothers and i were all raised the same and got in trouble for the same thing, we turned out just fine lol

yeah we dont spank for everything. fits especially that just makes it worse. when they throw a fit we take them into a quiet room (stay with them) and ignore them. that behavoir is not acceptable and will not get them attention. they are good listeners so far though so fits only happen when they are real tired

yeah they want to test thier limits with thier parents. its the only time they feel comfortable doing it. i find it amazing to know that they love me so much they feel like they and test me. but i always hold the smile back lol
