Quoting Angel on its way!:“ I saw a heartbeat at 5 weeks 2 days! Again, it was like a flashing light but the obgyn said thats the ... [snip!] ... wait for the next u/s on July 23rd at 12 weeks!   I hope all of our beans have a nice strong heart beat for us mommies!”

I wasn't able to hear the heart beat through a doppler/stethoscope until I was well into my third trimester. It actually isn't audibly heard until about that late because of the size and where your uterus is located.

I didn't start getting any MS symptoms until half-way through my 6th week, although I did have the occasional wave of nausea before I knew I was pregnant. My MS is slowly getting worse... No spewing but I constantly feel sick. Just be thankful you haven't experienced any symptoms. My Dr said up to a 3rd of expectant mothers have no MS symptoms.

I heard an interesting fact the other day... When the doctor detects the heartbeat of your little bean immediately the risk of m/c drops down to 2%.

I have to wait 18 days until my first appt/scan. It's a long wait but I've got lots of stuff planned from now until then so hopefully the time will pass quickly! I will take a big sigh of relief once they detect that heartbeat.

I'm in Australia (thus a day ahead) so today marks 8 weeks pregnant! Woot.

Wow Amber that is definitely interesting. Makes me want to hear the heartbeat all the more sooner lol.

OMG y'all my husband is so cute. He's been running a fever and coughing bad all day but he's sitting next to me on his laptop looking at baby names. <3

You are right you canr hear a heart beat like you can hear your own but you can definitely hear a quick swooshing sound whick is basically the heartbeat....my hubby is a medic and has some obgyn training... according to him...the quick swooshing sound is basically the heartbeat... you think hes telling me that to make me feel better???lol whatever the case is, It sounds like my baby to me...lol

That's really cute! It's great he's getting so involved.
My partner and I started looking seriously at baby names when I was about 4 weeks... We had lots of in depth conversations about it but we didn't even realise I was pregnant.  We've picked a boy's name and have a few girl's names that we like and will choose closer to the date.

And I've read that it isn't when they detect a heartbeat...but it is when they can hear the heart. I dunno... something I've realized on here (bg) is that we all hear/read different things

You're exactly right - there's a lot of conflicting evidence out there. I take it all with a grain of salt but cling to anything that is reassuring - the less I have to worry the better, although I understand that anything can happen.

I can't remember where I read that fact but I just found this article:

good article. thank you for sharing that.

To everyone... (in the U.S.A) I hope you are all having a good 4th of July. I went to a baseball game (we won) and now I'm just relaxing at home with the hubby and pets. I've been getting nauseous in the mornings until around 10...I feel hungover or like I have the spins (best way to describe it). Anyway...have a good night.

That is exactly what my doctor told me. I heard the heatbeat at 6 weeks 4 days and 7 weeks 5 days and at 9 week, all by ultrasound but it was there and each time it got stronger
