how old was your child when

you took him//her off of their paci....i have a 13 mo old and i dont want her teeth to be delayed or have gaps and shes still on a bottle...i know some people who still give their 3 yo a paci but they only get it at night because it helps them sleep...What are your thoughts?

She was 3 months, and she did not once cry for it! It was a piece of cake for me, but not all mothers are lucky like that.

I took her bottle away when she was 10 months but she looves her paci. I need to wean her soon she is 12 months

my kids lose intrest in them on their own at about 3-4 months!!!!!

a lot of my girlfriends got their daughters off the paci at 2 years old
they told them that the paci fairy would come and take the pacis and leave them 5 dollars

they quickly gave up their pacis lol

He switched himself to his fingers at 3 months  now at 16 months I cant get him to stop

yea my child has to have her paci its like life support...if she doesnt have it she wont sleep..she put a whole in it and tried to buy her a new one but it was different shape she would not suck it at all i had to go to8 different stores just to find her original one

My son started using his only at night in the crib prob around 6 months, and altogether stopped on his own about 2 months later. My niece used hers prob until 2 yrs old; is 6 now and her teeth seem fine.

My kid is 9 1/2 months and I depend on that paci to let him soothe himself to sleep.... i figure i will ween him off it when he understands "go to bed"

i would say have her off the paci by 2 years latest *ideally* but go with you feel is right for her....

lol I left her last pacifier at a restaurant one day, and when I went back to get it, they had thrown it away... so that was it. I think she was just over 12 months old. She had a little trouble for a night or 2, but she was never really dependant on it so all was well for us.

Yea my kid didn't want it either forthe first fewmonthsbut when he started teething he started taking it again and now he can't live without it. I thought I'd be one of the lucky ones and not have a kid who depended on one, but now I am and I'm wondering the same thing!

My daughter didnt have a paci, well she did but only while in NICU, SOOOOOO no idea, good luck.

& no worries, my daughter is about to be 16 months next week, and still has a bottle.

My doctor told me that my son could have the binky until he was two! He got off of it two months after he turned two though.

neither of my kids were binki babies. However, I'm a firm believer of bitting the bullet and just taking the bink and bottle away at 1. At 11 months we introduced sippy cups to piper. Just a little water in a double handled sipper. Once she got the hang of it, out went the bottle.

make sure she can use a sippy and then chuck the bottles and the bink the same day. Just toss them. no discussion nothing... She'll fuss for a few days but, after that she'll forget about.
