We are going to open discussion for the book; The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie

This is a discussion of the book in it entirety... so if you haven't finished it, beware of spoilers!

I liked the book.. It took me a little to get used to his writing...

I found the book super interesting until the second part... then it got a little boring for me..

My absolutely favorite part was when he hopped on his heels to make the pain in his balls go away.. i literally lol'ed

Good, I can finally say this. I've been wanting to, but had to avoid it because of something I've observed.

My favorite part was the last line of the book, heh. But, saying that would likely make at least some people jump to the end out of curiosity. It took me years to break myself of that habit. I'd always jump to the last page first. Occasionally, that just completely ruins a book, heh.

hahaha that part was pretty funny.

Here is what I dont understand about the book- the daughter says she ordered the hit on her father.. but the father was the one who met with him and offered him the hit in the first place

Im confused

I'm confused about the ending, which woman did he wind up with??  


And Sadie, to answer your question. I think the daughter was in leagues with the people trying to kill her father....the dad didn't know this. When he talked to the main character, he was carrying out his plan...without knowing his daughter was part of the hit out on him.

If that makes any sense. lol

ETA: I've finished the book and since read two others, so I'm forgetting character names and such. Fogivaness prease.

I really like his writing style, although I do agree it got a little slow in the middle. Wasn't this his first book? And hasn't he written at least one more? If so, I would definitely read it just because of how many times I laughed just reading this one.

I agree! I'm near finished but from what I get of the two women, I like Ronnie better! I'll finish the book either today or tomorrow and be ready to discuss more then. But so far there has been some pretty surprising stuff. To be honest, Tom seems like he's one tough son of gun (LOL no pun intended) Not only does he kick some major ass, guys that are much bigger than him but he is book and street smart. I like him  

I was dissapointed that he didnt thwart the assasination...but it added to his good guy/bad guy character

Ok so when I finished the book the first thing I thought was...wth?! So does he end up with Sarah or Ronnie? That part confused me a bit. The rest of the book was pretty good. Quite a few good spots/lines that had me laughing. In the back it mentioned that they are starting to write the screenplay to turn it into a movie...I'm sure being able to see the action will be great! Overall I'd rate it a 2.5-3 on a scale of 5...what about you ladies?
