Swelling feet & ankles is really common in pregnancy, especially in the 3rd trimester. It may or may not be a sign of preeclampsia. You have to have more than just swelling for it to be preeclampsia, like you have to have high blood pressure & protein in your urine.

Dont worry....my ankles and feet look HUGE, but I dont have preclampsia. My doc said its usually because I have too much salt in my diet and I'm retaining a lot of water. Try to elevate your feet as much as possible

Another thing that helps is not wearing flip flops or sandals. I know they're comfy, but my midwife said since they give you no support, they also cause swelling (it's true...when I sneak and wear them, I blow up like a balloon). My good 'ole Nike running shoes seem to keep swelling at bay. Plus, they're the most comfortable anyway. With it being hot weather now, swelling is worse than it would be in the winter. Drink tons of water! That seems to help my swelling, too.

He did not like my weight gain and swelling in my feet. I went back this week and after making those changes I lost 4 lbs. Mind you I didn't cut out the salt just cut back......its so yummy!
