They're great for tummy time and for sitting Sarah up after feeds so she doesn't toss her cookies.

don't know about the Gripe Water though.....sorry

Hi everyone...this baby is much easier than the first one was. In other news, DH is getting laid off on Monday. I'm a wreck. For some reason, my biggest concern is over health insurance. I think with unemployment we'll be okay financially for 2 months, but obviously not easy.

I've been so worried about Lillian getting enough milk. I haven't been too adamant about boosting my supply but have been trying small things like pumping and eating oatmeal. When I pumped after feedings I would get a small amount... but if I pumped after a small break while she was napping I got a decent amount. I feel good about her nursing abilities but saw some odd behavior develop recently. She'll clamp down real hard on my nipples, or pull back and fuss at them... she also gag too... prolly from getting too much at once. She doesn't do it every time she feeds... prolly once or twice a day, especially after her long naps. After a bit of researching, it appears that I may be over producing milk or have a fast let down.

Lillian has put on 2 pounds in her first 6 weeks... so I think she's def getting enough food! I am so happy I don't need to worry about that any more... now I can focus on my other worries... lol

Yep, that's my issue. It says try to nurse completely on one side. Its been working better for me.

Oh, and I just found out the layoff may not be definite. So I'm hoping DH is wrong on his assumption.

I fear the monster boob... so I'm not sure what I wanna do. I may just let hubby bottle feed a bit more now... especially now that she's taking the bottle and nipple without confusion. Part of me wants to keep this extra supply up so I can pump and store too. Maybe I can pump before I feed her so she won't have the "too fast too soon" issues while still getting to the hind milk. I've just been having troubles getting to pumping during the day cuz she feeds so often.

SO glad to hear that the layoff may not happen... I'm crossing my fingers for your hubby!

Usually Yahoo Help is not very helpful IMO... but someone posted a link to this site which I thought was helpful...

Kellymom is a great site. I've been battling breastfeeding issues since the beginning. My twins did not get a chance to nurse that often while in NICU for many reasons. Both are not efficient suckers and after going to lactation consults they were only getting about 6CCs after nursing for 15 min. I finally got a prescription for domperidone which seems to have increased my supply. My daughter now appears to nurse better than before and requires less of a supplement after breastfeeding. My son still doesn't quite get it yet.
I'm still hoping to breastfeed both although now they are getting older it may be difficult.

While I was poking around to find ways to boost my milk supply I found a recipe for cookies that help... because the recipe contains oatmeal and brewers yeast... 2 ingredients that are proven to increase lactation...

The ingredients that you will need are:

1 cup of butter, preferably Olivio or another olive oil type butter, one with flaxseed in it has added health benefits
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of brown sugar
4 tablespoons of water
2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal (found at health food stores)
2 large eggs, using eggs with omega in it is beneficial, but not required
1 tsp of vanilla
2 cups of flour, whole wheat flour is recommended
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of salt
3 cups of oats (oatmeal, not instant though), thick cut work best
1 cup or more of chocolate chips, peanut butter chips or any that you like
2-4 tablespoons of brewers yeast, it must be brewers yeast (found in health food stores)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

mix 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal with the water and set aside, you will need it a little later
beat butter and sugars well
add the eggs and mix
stir in flaxseed mix and add vanilla to the butter mix
beat well
sift together the flour, brewers yeast, salt and baking soda
add to butter mix
stir in oats and chips
scoop or drop onto baking sheet an inch apart
bake for 12-15 minutes

The key ingredients here for increasing breastmilk is the brewers yeast and oatmeal. Back in the day, doctors used to advise mothers to drink a beer a day because the yeast in the beer helped to increase breastmilk. Now, drinking alcohol isn't quite so advised so eating these cookies with brewers yeast in it will have the same effect, if not better. Oatmeal has been a long time remedy for low milk supply as well. Eating a bowl or two a day while nursing helps to increase.

Thanks for the recipe
A friend made me something like that after my twins were born and they were yummy! It took 5 days for my milk to somewhat come in. I found my pumping record from the hospital and am glad I am producing more than the 10ML I was then, lol.

Full autopsy on Serenity came in about 20 mins ago. Major throbi(Sp)? Clots were found, And those block off and kill vessles. Even if they took her out she would have only lived for an few days than pass away. :-(. But nothing was found in the body. Which is great. Im glad I got to find out. But still hurts... I still miss her....

I thought Id let everyone know...
