re: Single moms and moms to be Group BOSM

I'm Jessica   I'm 18 and my son will be 11 months on the 14th. He was born March 14th, 2012 <3. Single mother for a couple months now ... Feel free to talk to me !  

heres my rant for the week BD called to tell me i have to bring DD (who hes never met) to him by 6pm friday or he will call the police and report that i kidnapped her! how the hell could i kidnap my own damn kid? he doesnt have visitation so the police will just laugh at him but still damn. ive finally got things going good and all and bam he wants to screw it all up!

Any advice on how to control my 3 year old?? She's out of control I can't handle her she has hit the testing and trying stage and when I try to discipline her she kicks hits slaps and bites me!!!! Help me sincerely broke down mama of a 3 year old and 8 month old!!

when she bites push her bottom lip into her teeth just enough for her to feel pain as for the slapping and kicking grab her hands or feet and firmly tell her no we do not hit/kick hold her tight so she can feel that you are seeious and hitring biting kicking etc. is not tolerated and she will be punished for it. have you ans her father recently just slpit?

hello im Jillian sort of a single mama me and SO just moved in together but many days i feel like a single mommy because of his job

No are together but idk for how much longer because I'm not happy with him ad his anger, depression issue and he refuses to get help, this all started after we moved back home from stayin with his parents out of state until his dad died in nov . And it's like she's a total different kid now, she was very very close to his dad and it broke my heart to have to explain to her that he went to live with the angels..her father, my so called husband, wasn't there for her until he was 2 1/2 , he was in and out of her life as we broke up and got together again several times, we got back together for good in sept 2011 and I got pregnant around oct so it was a big shocker for her to have her daddy and then me going to have another baby, but now I guess since we argue over everything now she can kinda feel the tension and maybe that's he way of getting attention ?? Or she has gotten his anger issue .. Idk I'm lost with this situation

it sounds like a combination of things shes probably missing her grandfather and she cant express how she feels maybe talk to her about her grandfather if you have an extra picture of him for her to have also she can feel whats going on even f you dont argue in front of her i would try to sit down with your SO and figure something out of course im not saying her behavior is from you and SO but it def doesnt help she may have gotten a little bit of her anger management issues from him but this is the time when you need to teach her to deal with her anger the right way be strong and stick to your guns but at the same time let her know that its ok to get angry but we cant hit bite kick ect teach her some ways to let out her anger punching her pillow going for a walk crying

Im a single mom since 2008 an now im due with another blessing from my
best guy friend but I will still be raising the kid pretty much on my own does that count?

Is it really hard to raise a child as a single mother like everyone else says.??

Yes and no I have a 4yr old daughter and the first couple yrs was really hard for me when i was in school because she was at daycare an 4c's covered most of it but without a job i still had to pay a co pay, which i was getting gov't assistance so that took care of her and me for 2 yrs afterwards I had relied on my mom for a lot until i was able to on my own which for me was awhile .., so it's different for everyone .. the stronger u are an if you can budget ur money wisely you should be okay but get a support system if u can or a mommys group

That all depends on what kind of support system you have.


For me, I still live with my mom, so she helps A LOT when she's not working.
As for me working, I have to work around their daycare schedule, because I have no one to watch them for me otherwise.

Depends. It's really really hard at first, but then you find a routine and it's better.

I don't have much support where I'm living, and I work a ton of hours, so it's really difficult sometimes. But then I see my married friends and how they argue about parenting and think hmm, maybe me being single is a blessing in disguise.

thankz ladies for your response, a lot of ppl have been telling me its hard to raise a kid as a single mother, my uncle has metion that to me and also one of my friend... none of them have gone through the 'single mother' experience... my friend is still single with no kids and she told me that it will be soo hard to raise a kid as a single mother so im like in my mind... uhmmm your not a mother yet how would you know.? and as with my uncle he tells me bcuz of his experiences he had at the beginning w/ his wife ... so i dont know if they just want to scare me off...


&& with the support system technically me and my mom we are not really speaking i still live w/ my parents but we are on our own ways, we havent talked about my pregnancy or neither has she asked when im due or anything!! soo i would say im not couting on her to be at the hospital when im delivering ... my dad is being supportive he has offered to helped me financially but im denying it.. he's having some financial difficulties so i rather not receive any $$ from him yet until he controls himself w/ the $$$ ... so technically i could say i have no support system and im all alone :-/


but i hope its not as hard as they say, reading your responses gets some tension off my shoulders... i guess the only way to survive is knowing how to handle the $$ correctly and not just spending it like crazy like i used to before...
