I learned that if u don't put him on the birth certificate u can't ask for child support later on if u need it for one reason or another.

Thank you. It's ok. I have all the support I want or need in my own family, and some great friends.

He can't keep a job to save his life, and doesn't pay his child support for his two oldest daughters, so I wouldn't get anything from him anyway. Trust me, I never intended to have a child with him, I was just lonely. Even if he were a millionaire, the money wouldn't be worth giving him rights over my son. He will NOT show up ten years from now and demand to be in River's life.

I understand, I'm kind of in the same situation, but apart of me feels like I'll be hurting my daughter by leaving him out, yet I know he will disappoint her in the future.

i dont know where you live but in TN and OH thats not true my daughters sperm donor isnt on her birth certificate and we go to court next thursday to set up child support

Did you go through the courts or a child support agency? Generally if you use the child support agency, they give you a letter stating that your case is active as of such and such date and they have 30 days to take action, so you should wait 30 days before you check for updates to your case. In my case, BD was served 20 days after my case became active again. (Somebody screwed up and closed my case and I had to go down and get it reopened.)

If you just filed with the courts, I would assume he'd be served rather quickly.

files through ORS, the child support agency. that's good to know. i know they'll have to do paternity and everything. i just don't want it to drag out forever, he'd love if it did. thanks for the response!

Yeah, my ex just asked for paternity at our meeting on the 22nd.   So now I have to take my baby down on the 15th for a DNA test and the results will be back 3 weeks after that. So that's December. And they told my ex that we'd meet in January to discuss child support from there. So he pushed it out three more months by asking for DNA.

i went thru CS office DD was born june 5th 2012 DNA was aug 1st and the court date is a week from today im hoping everything goes as planned but def get the DNA first and out of the way so he cant pull any crap

date... went well. but... usually the guy texts! I'd assume he's not interested.... but he asked for my number, and practically planned another date on the first date. I appreciated that- so I wouldnt' be left wondering. Now, I'm over thinking it.... and wondering if he really wants to see me again.... or if he just dind't want an awkward ending to the date?

I'm sorry that you've found yourself in this situation. The upside is you have 4 months to mentally prepare for doing it by yourself and you don't have to share your baby with anyone or argue with anyone over parenting styles. You'll get through it. It's not a walk in the park, but then again parenting period is no walk in the park, partner or not. You just have to live every day for your son and for making his life everything he deserves. He will love you unconditionally and he deserves the same in return. He will make everything you go through worth it.

I suggest trying to get some sort of support network of family or friends. Even if it's just someone you can scream your head off to when you're stressed. Take it one day at a time. And, of course, you can always use this thread for advice/venting.
