Yeah tell me about it. I couldnt even fit all her smurf in this box. She threatened to take us to court for full custody because she cannot take care of him. Doesnt make much sense to me... She wants to put in him a summer camp and was saying she couldnt afford it even though she just got over 3000 from us. We later found out she went to Atlantic City and blew it. We told her to just let us take him for the summer, but that wasnt good enough because she would lose child support. Her exact words were, " If you do not want him medicated over the summer, you need to figure out what to do with him. Unless you want me to take yous for full-custody because I cant take care of him everyday."

Needless to say, we have it saved and are planning to take it to court.

You should hear the things he tells us about what she does to him. She truly is a piece of smurf.

Yeah i guess we will see how we come out on fri cause i was reading the reports from the school and it was saying that me and the teachers who did that little test thingy you fill out both had him more along the lines of autisum it was only the pyhc herself was the only one that didnt really think so. That kinda made me mad when i read that. But my mom told me that because if they dignose him as Autisic than they have to provide him with more things and things that cost money and they just dont want to do that and at the ARD meeting they had last week they were very shocked that i had decided to go to an outside source. I dont really care what they think or tell me something else is wrong with my child i just dont know what but its something.

Your mother hit the nail on the head. My SOs mother is a special needs teacher. She works only with Autistic children. The schools will prolong everything because they will have to provide extra aides and such.

The schools will try to keep you in their ring because then they can all click together. Its sad. Instead of having the childs best interest at heart, they worry about money and the child suffers.

Maybe not where she lives. In NJ the state requires that the schools pull in extra help for special needs children. What the schools like to try to do to prevent this is throw them in a SPED class. They keep getting funded by having children in these classes that do not belong. They tried doing that with Jeremy. He is extremely bright, but needs one on one attention. He is in 1st grade at a 3rd grade level. He would bottom as far as education if he were put into a SPED class. He would also start acting as those children act, which would just add to his problems.

My family started to suspect when he was very young- he just seemed more interested in objects then people, and as soon as he could grasp he would try to line things up.

My doctor saw it around 18 months, he was a little behind with his fine motor skills, a lot with his social- she wanted to wait and see though, cause his gross motor was on target and he could saying 100's of words.

Mu husband and I started to believe it could be possible when he was maybe 2- he could say 1000's of words by this time- but only phrases he would repeat from movies. No mama, dada...no waving good bye, didn't seem to care if we were around or not, had huge intense meltdowns for seemingly no reason, would bang his head on walls, floors with his hands, would only eat a very limited variety of food. He was very senstitive to sound, had odd sleep patterns.

He was officially dx'd when he was almost 3. At that time he tested at a 4 1/2 year old level with his words he could say, but a 14 month level with words he could use appropriately. He tested at a 9 month level socially. His fine motor skills were a 16 month old level. Its really hard to say, exactly what it was they saw...cause it was huge and global. We have been since told if it wasn't for the amount of words he could say at such a young age he would have been easily dx'd by 2.

About the insurance thingy- not positive about OH, but here in PA even if you have private ins. (we do) and don't meet the income guidelines to receive a SSI check for disability (we don't) you can still qualify for a medical assistance card- just for your child with autism to help cover the cost of therapy- also the school system is legally obligated to pay for certain therapies as long as your child has an IEP- which they can get before they start school.

All of my sons OT/ST and 19 hours of his ABA/verbal behavior are paid for by either his medical access card or by the school district- our private ins. only covers a little bit- though thankfully here they just passed a law requiring them to pay for the first $36,000 a year in autistic services. No luck with DAN doctors over here (as far as ins. covering)- but we thankfully have a wonderful family doc- that will order all the blood tests a DAN doc would do.
