posted 2nd May '09
My son Bryson was born on 1-21-09 2 months early at 4 lbs 10 oz. Pretty good weight so we were greatful. He was in the NICU for 4 weeks and came home at 36 weeks. At the last Drs. appt on 4-22 he weighed 11 lbs. 3 oz. (3 1/2 months old).Hes just now starting to fit some 3 month outfits but mostly ust newborns still. hes getting alot better at holding his head up but still gets a little tired....he started to bear weight on his legs when i hold him upright about 2 weeks ago. he smiles all the time...now starting to coo and make little baby noises   ** question though......he still only eats 3-4 oz every 3-4 hrs....it seems like hes getting hungary more often but he wont up the amount he drinks at one time...he just gets sleepy and falls asleep....anyone else experiencing the same?? his Ped seems to think hes gaining weight fine tho so idk. anyways heres some pics!all are recent pictures

he sounds like he is doing great i have a 6 months old preemie who should only be 3 months and he weighs 10 lbs but was born only weighing 2 lbs 3 oz. Just now wearing 3 month clothes. And he is only eating a little over 3 oz of formula every 3 hours. so it sounds like he is doing pretty good

My son was born at on 1-29-09, but I was due 3-6-09. He was just 34 weeks. He came home from the hospital at 4 lbs 3 ounces just one week later, though! He weighed 11 lbs the last time I weighed him about 2 weeks ago or so. He goes back to the doctor in a few days, so we'll see then!

He holds his head up, looks all around, pushes himself up when he's on his belly on his boppy pillow, coos and tries to talk when you talk to him happily, and smiles. I'm not sure how much he eats because he is breast fed. He is wearing some newborn clothes and some 3 months clothes, although the 3 months are usually a little big.

It sounds like your little guy is doing GREAT.

Aww your son is a cutie!  My daughter Miracle was born 3 months early, and weighed 1 pound 13 ounces at birth. She's 4 months old now, adjusted age is 1 month old. She now weighs 8 pounds 4 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long, so she is the size of a newborn. She still wears most of her preemie clothes, and she's just now getting into size newborn clothes, though size newborn is a little big on her. She drinks btw 3 oz-4 oz of milk every 3-4 hours. Just a few days ago, her doctor told us to start putting cereal in her bottle b/c of her reflux. Since we started putting cereal in her bottle a few days ago, she only wakes up once during the night to eat. She holds her head up, loves to focus on everything that comes in contact with her, she coos & babbles, grins, smiles all the time (I just can't catch her smiling on camera, lol), she rolls over, scoots back and forth, and she also sits up assisted though!Miracle is very alert and very responsive to her enviroment! I wish you and your family the best! Your son is so freaking handsome and adorable!

Ohhh boy, I know how you feel about the development thing. But we really shouldn't compare them to full-term babies. It's hard though, and I'm guilty of it myself.

Evan gets really tired/fussy really fast doing it on his belly. I know they say tummy time is important, but I always give in if he fusses. I think they'll just do it when they're ready. When you hold him in your arms does he hold his head up? If so, he's right where he's supposed to be.
