I suffered from extreme hyperemesis in the first 2 trimesters of pregnancy, there is a closed support group on fb that helped me out immensely. I lost 40 pounds all within my first trimester. I was so ill I was hospitalized many times, I couldn't eat or drink I was afraid it was going to end my pregnancy... even my dr tried to opt me for an abortion at one point because it became so detrimental to my own health... of course I fought through all of that. But to anyone suffering from it... it feels like THE END OF THE WORLD... and you want to give up because even dying seems less painful... but it truely does get better with lots of time, and lots of care... it is so hard not only physically but mentally and emotionally wearing as well... NO ONE understands you... Not evenyour drs... no one but another suffereer og HG could ever feel your pain... I isolated myself for 5 months completely cutting the world, my family, my DH out... it's a sad disease.

there is hope my first pregnancy was just bad MS, second was regular HG, third was pretty bad HG with home nurses and PICC line, TPN...everything LOL, and this pregnancy I am carrying now....I haven't even puked Still have to take Zofran because if I didn't stay on top of the meds I can feel myself going down hill pretty fast but a much more enjoyable pregnancy!!!!

wow thats great- in comparison :-) *sighs* it seems everyone thinks it best we be done, and the stress is hard and it does affect beyond just me and my husband/children- family has to watch my kids and its sad but its always worth it. I just wonder if its-life threatening next time, since i got a blood clot this time and such, and yet i wonder if i would have been on phenergen from beginning if none of this would have happened-cuz fully medicated on both medicines I hardly threw up at all. So much to consider..but my big thing of course is that I dont want my kids to not have a mom because something happened.

Yeah my first was the absolute worst, my second was pretty bad, but my third was worse than the 2nd. I was SHOCKED this time around. Ive had 3 girls so everyone thinks it must be because this one is a boy (Its a surprise, I wont know if theres any truth to that until birth  )

I was wondering if any of you still work. I was just diagnosed with HG (lost 15 lbs in 3 weeks) and I cannot get to work. I work in 3rd grade and it's just not happening. I think I'm going to have to quit. I get sent home if I get sick in front of the kids because they don't understand it's a pregnancy thing. So I guess my real question is how are any of you able to work!?

most women cannot work if it is anything over mild hyperemesis. I worked my first- id never do it again, it was terrible- I was puking inbetween or would run to the bathroom while cutting hair- every single haircut and I was told they could hear me out there:-(..

Hi ladies
I'm due in May and recently found out my two year old daughter will be having a little sister.
I've been so super sick. I have to take Zofran, Zantac, and Bino just to be at baseline. It's much worse than the pregnancy with my two year old.
I've lost at least 25 pounds. All I've been able to keep down is white rice and very little else for over a month. I'm just feeling so... bleh.
Just thought I'd drop in and say hi. Hope all ofyou momma's are hanging in there ok.

Hi I'm in the same situation! Also only able to keep down white rice and the occasional plain bagel   it's really stressing me out. How's your daughter dealing with having a sick mommy?

Sometimes when I get really sick she strokes my face to comfort me. She's a very sweet girl.
Idk what I'd do without my fiance. He spoils

me. Will go anywhere to bring me something I can eat.
Have you tried any medication? It's been a real life saver for me.

I'm on zofran, reglan, and some vitamin haha possibly b6. The zofran does help for about three hours but what's killing me is the five hour wait to take the next one. Your daughter sounds very sweet! Mine walks around the house imitating me getting sick. My fiancé is a truck driver so unfortunately that's no help!

Please be careful with Reglan (Metoclopramide). Serious complications can result from it. I used it for 10 days to increase milk production, but my doctor didn't recommend me taking it any longer than that. You can Google the risks asociated.
What MG of Zofran are you on? You might be able to take a higher dose.
Another option is adding Compazine for the in between periods.
Over the counter Bennadryl has been used off lable for morning sickness as well, and might be yet another option to fill the gaps. Especially at night to help you sleep.
Are you suffering any gas pains?
You are still in the first trimester, it did get somewhat better for me starting around 10 weeks. but then the gas set in.
Also since you've been puking repetitively, your stomach lining is bound to be sore making it hard to eat even when you're not ill. I would recommend Zantac (Which is also over the counter, but can be obtained via prescription) twice a day (or as recommended by your doctor). Works wonders for me to get rid of that burny feeling you get from puking constantly.

I've only taken the Reglan twice to be honest. I read the paper that comes with it the other day and it said do not take when pregnant! I ended up switching dr's after that. I actually have terrible debilitating gas pains! I take Prilosec twice a day for an esophagus condition which is supposed to help but some days it does and some days it doesn't. Thanks for suggesting the Benadryl-a ton of my sickness is during the middle of the night and I haven't been able to sleep very well. I'm hoping that helps!

No problem momma. You can take upto 150 MG of Bennadryl and still be perfectly safe.
Compazine comes in generic form, and is a much better alternative for the in between times for Zofran than Reglan IMO.
Idk aobut Reglan while pregnant, but I know using for a period for longer than 10 days can result in facial neurological complications for some.
Please keep me updated on how things are going.
