I don't think it is genetic my sister had it once out of five pregnancies, and i have had it twice out of four but my mom and aunt and cousins no one has had more than a little naseau or nothing at all.

I really don't think it's genetic either .. I'm the only one that has had rough pregnancies thus far. And what pisses me off is that since I'm the "smallest" they think it's an eating disorder or I'm causing it

I JUST found this thread at almost 33 weeks   Hello fellow HG ladies

A little about me. I have had three prior pregnancies with no nausea. Just a bit of food aversions but I never threw up. With this one it was totally different. I lost 15 pounds within the first two months. My ketones were ridiculously high. My BMI was 19 before pregnancy so it was a huge concern for us. Immediately started on anti-emetics and admitted. I was later discharged but have been on bed rest since 10 weeks. This pregnancy was also complicated by the fact that I have a full history of pre-term labors and births as well as migraines   So, I am feeling better but am still on a ton of medications and bed rest.

Yeah for me I dont think it's a genetic thing either, my mom had bad MS but she said it was nothing like what I had. How are you feeling so far?

Thank you. Things have improved greatly. I used to have to get IV fluids and meds 5 days a week, but I am now down to only 2-3 days a week. I can keep food down, for the most part. My appetite is out of control! lol... I finally started to gain weight   My OB laughed when I expressed concern for how quickly I gained weight.

I have yet to meet anyone around me or family who have had HG, if it wasnt for online access I'd never know any other person with this horrible monster condition. Thankfully we do have the internet in this day and age and have other people that can relate to what we are dealing with or have dealt with.

Aww Im glad things are better, it's so nice to be able to eat again and it stay down! and you are due next month so will be free of meds soon enough. Did you have to go in to the OB's office for IV fluids or did you have home health care?

I have to go into the hospital and get an IV every time. I refused the PICC line, because I do not take blood and have 3 kids to look after. Didn't want to risk an infection in my blood.

Did you have HG too? I am curious as to why I got it this time but was never sick the other 3 times

Yes, I have had it with all my pregnancies accept my first. I had the PICC with my last two pregnancies and it was a answered prayer for me. However I did get a blood infection my last pregnancy with the PICC. I did have a home health care nurse come to draw blood, clean it and do weekly check up's. I did have MS with my first and thought that was bad, nothing compared to HG.

Oh no so sorry to hear that Lizzie, any updates with the docs and meds? Are you able to take some time off work? I cant imagine you can continue to keep working like that. I had to leave and work from home and even that was difficult at times.

The PICC saved me.. It sucked but was great because I could have the nurses come to me at my house. I'm pretty sure the risk of infection is low? I had my line in for about two months though.. I believe some have it in for much longer. Hang in there xo

Have your docs office call your insurance company .. Have the docs tell them that you NEED the Zofran and most likely they will cover it...
