I'm glad you guys made this thread . I have suffered with Hypermesis in both of my pregnancies. I get to watch everyone have the luxury of being able to eat whatever they want and I have to walk on egg shells.lol

That's how I was too. I never even left my bed. I felt like I had cancer or some type of disease where you just slowly fade away into nothing body and personality wise.

I just want a "normal" pregnancy. Ah, I started to cry.

My doctor prescribed Zofran but my insurance would only pay for 12 of them a month.

I took reglan and that helped A LOT, but it took my doctors until I was 3 months a long, -40 something pounds, and my urine to be almost black to put me on it.

I HATED that. "Did you try crackers? what about popsicles?"

Actually, my life saver was itallian ice. SOMETIMES it would stay down. That's about it though.

However, I can't even look at the stuff now. lol

did the thought of anything sweet and sugary make you guys puke too? I ate nothing sweet at all, even still to this day i cant handle much sugar. I used to eat a 1/2 gallon of ice cream in a week no problem pre-preg. and now it takes me like a month or longer and thats if i eat it at all. I was a major chocaholic before and now i really only eat it when im PMS'ing haha.

I remember telling my ultrasound tech that I was going to get a milkshake and tator tots because I was so hungry (and knew to eat what I craved) and she started ripping into me saying "WHY would you eat like that? That is NOT healthy." I just shut up.

I do try to eat healthy...when I'm not pregnant.   Dr. Peppers always settled my stomach but when #3 came...I couldn't even try to drink it, or I would get sick. It took about a year before I drank them again.

Quoting Mama Cherry has a Sweet P:“ I know I have had those same thoughts lol. Oh and Dominiks Mom here is the other link I was telling you about with more stories and a dad's corner. http://forums.helpher.org/”
Thanks for the link!
Well I just woke up and was hoping it was going to be a good day since yesterday was so bad but no thats not the case, or atleast the bile I threw up tells a diffrent story. So I showed my husband a few of the links and he just said I know. I think they informed him more than he will admit. I am truly happy to have this forum, I think we will all get through it because of this

Caynan--Yes, sweet stuff kills me now. I used to love eating sweets now, not so much.

Femmeah-- I have the issue with insurance on the zofran too they will give me 15 pills a month and thats $50. I just wish I could puke on whoever made that decision the preg. women don't need it.

Oh, has anyone tried the unisom/b-6 combo? How did it work? I take the b-6 sometimes but I'm scared to try the unisom.

My insurance company does that to me too! how...if you need at least 1 a day(maybe more)... does 15 pills in 30 days work??? someone messed up their math!

I use the b-6/unisom combo....
the unisom relaxes my body at night so I am not restless and making my nausea worse...I was told only to take half a pill though...

I have yet to see the benefits of the b-6. but I take it anyways, because they said it is supposed to help with digestion and energy.

Morning mama's!!
I tried it at 5 weeks before I was able to see the doc for a Zofran prescription and it really didnt help for me but the unison put me to sleep for a while and I usually cant sleep well during this period.
Some said it has worked for them and the class that Unisom is, is supposed to be safe plus when they add another Med like Zofran it works best.

That was a lot of reading, lol..
I have had hyperemesis two times and currently I would have it but I took a different option that many won't discuss.
Hyperemesis effected my life greatly. I had it from 6 weeks with my son until the day I delivered. I honestly don't know how I survived those 8 months!! I was literally in the hospital for 3/4 of my pregnancy. At three months I went on a PICC line, on TPN and IV fluids, plus vitamins. After about 2 1/2 - 3 months I started having excrutiating, drop-to-your-knees pain under my chest in my upper abdomen. I knew it wasn't the baby. I went to the ER and had blood drawn and was told that my pancreatic enzymes were through the roof and if I didn't come in when I did I could have died as well as my son. SO the TPN had given me pancreatitis, I couldn't even suck on ice chips for 10 days to let my enzymes come down. The pancreatitis also caused gall stones so that was painful for the rest of my pregnancy, because they didn't want to take out my gall bladder while I was pregnant. So on top of having hyperemesis, which was the original problem, I had bad pain too. They tried everything for me! Compazine, Tygan, Phenergan, Raglan (DON'T TAKE IT!!), Benedryl, Zofran, etc. Plus pain killers. None of the nausea meds helped. Zofran worked for a short time but my body got immune to it and it quit working. Eventually (at about 8 months when I was still in and out of the ER) they put me on something called Kytril which is stronger than Zofran. It was amazing. It let me get through the last month eating perfectly with no problems at all. It is a rare medication though, for cancer patients going through chemo.
The second time I had hyperemesis I had to make a decision that changed my life forever..I had to have an abortion. I was sicker than I was before and not in the position at all to deal with hyperemesis. It was my only option. I regret it to this day, but if I didn't make that decision, I might not be here today and my son might not have his mommy.
Now I am 12 weeks pregnant again (I was on the IUD waiting to schedule a Tubal when I got pregnant! Lucky me) and for one reason and one reason only I do not have hyperemesis -- medical marijuana.
<3 Good luck with all of your pregnancies!

OMG that is so nasty! YES I had it throughout my pregnancy with my son until the 8th month! I had to carry around a bottle with me or something to spit in because I couldn't swallow it.

This is gross but I used to carry around cups and spit in them cause I couldnt stand to swallow the ex. saliva. I'm just dealing with it now but it is so nasty!
