Does anyone have problems with their DH/SO understanding? My DH tries but I just don't think he "gets" it.

AWESOME thread to start Cherry! I used to have people PM me to ask me about it when I had it on my page that I had it. I got lucky that I had a very understanding doctor who knew RIGHT away what was going on with me. I think this will be alot of help for some girls!!!!

my SO understands.. i remember when i first started getting sick he went out got crackers, ginger ale, sea bands, preggo pops..offcourse nothing worked but it was cute lol.. but after we found out i had HG he saw everything i had to go through.. and he even did some research on it.. the people that dont understand is my family members and my SO's family. they kept trying to compare their pregnancy with mine.. made me feel guilty and ask me questions like if i had a eating disorder.... the thing that triggers me the most is when they tell me to try harder to eat.. and to force myself to eat... like i wasnt trying!

I feel you here!!!

My DH is like this....he tries but....I am not sure he "gets" it either.

He did start crying the other day when I was in alot of pain and let me cry on his shoulder for a good twenty minutes this morning so I feel it is getting better.
He talked to our pastor about it sunday (whose daughter and wife have gone through it) and my pastor told him just not to make me think like he thought I was faking because I am not...he told my DH it is hard to deal with enough without me thinking he doesnt believe me.

Yeah, I just loved that. I'm a nurse, so I was working in the hospital in the beginning. So I would have sooo many people trying to tell me "tips" for my "morning sickness" I loved the people who would be like Well have you tried having some saltines at your bedside and eat them before you get up.

OMG.... All this time I've been puking my brains out and all it would have taken was some saltine crackers. Now why the hell didn't I think of that???

mine was supportive in that he took care of the house for me (which honestly i didnt care about because i couldnt get out of bed, but it was still awesome of him to do it) but he didnt like my belly and i think we both resented the pregnancy at some point because of how sick i was and how it just tore us apart . He hated my body pregnant and me being so sick and just totally seperated himself from me and that made me even more depressed. He told me after it was because he just felt so helpless and didnt know what to do. I cant blame him and i cant be mad at him because honestly if it was reversed i dont know how i would handle him being that sick. NONE of our family members understood or even tried to, they all just said "how can you be so sick" or "your just being dramatic" and even said "you just want to be sick for attention". First of all i hate attention on me and even more i hate negative attention on me. As far as TTC i agree with you on trying to plan it and thats why we both agreed we wanted to take this summer for the three of us to enjoy it and then talk about adding another one because me being pregnant and sick is a huge financial, emotional and physical burden on our family. Both of our families are a minimum of an hour and a half away and we dont have a babysitter so that makes things really difficult. I have some friends but they didnt go through being sick so they dont get it at all. They tried to be supportive but like my husband they just didnt know how and i didnt know how to tell them too. For all of you moms with more than one child, did you get as sick each time? Is it at all easier when you have a toddler to occupy your mind?

I think it's probably really hard for them (SO's) to deal with seeing us like that. You know men always want to fix everything, and it makes them feel totally helpless. My hubby was pretty good about it, but he definetely had his moments where I wanted to just punch him in the head.. If I had had the energy to even lift my arm off the bathroom floor, lol.

I know. I heard the cracker thing so much I was over it. I even had to consult with a dietician (sp) and the nutrionist on one of my trips to the hospital. The first thing they said was you havent tried any saltines? I'm like come on people! This time around I honestly told people I have this, I tried everything PLEASE dont tell me to try foods!!
