nursing moms, please help me

My daughter will be 7 weeks old in 2 days. I pump and bottle feed because she will not latch. She has always had good bowel movements, usually after every feeding. The past few days she has only had bowel movements if I help her go. When I make her go, it's real loose like before, not hard like if she was constipated. Is this normal that they stop going like before? She strains like she's constipated, but like I said, I can stimulate her rectum with the thermomentor (sp) and she poops loose poop.

It's normal for them to slowly start having a BM less often. My daughter would only have one every 7 days (and then it was a huge one!). BM is easier for them to break down and use in their bodies than formula, so they don't have as much extra that needs to come out! lol. I wouldn't worry!

But she strains like she's trying to go, but doesn't.

First of all... she is BF its normal to go only every few days! DO NOT KEEP POKING HER IN THE POOPER!!!! If you want to help her bowels then bicycle her legs or push her knees to her chest....

Try giving her mylicon or something. Tanner does that EVERY morning. Starts kicking and grunting. Its not because he has too shit. Its normally a gas bubble.

My daughter still does that sometimes, and she's 9 months. She'll make little grunt noises and looks like she's about to go poopy...then nothing. I think that's pretty normal!

I didn't know that would help, I thought I needed to get her to go.

I'd say after 2 WHOLE days of not pooping call the pedi and ask.
