Red bumps on tongue.. ??

Hello all... I have a question. Alexis is 8 months old, and has red bumps on the very back of her tongue. She sticks out her tongue and rubs it with her fingers. She's not overly fussy or crying, but I'm worried. Anyone know what this could be?

it could be that mouth and foot disease or w/e its called? Or maybe thrush? But I have no idea because Ry hasnt had any problems with her mouth. Im just guessing.

Yup i was gonna say the same as her. my son got it. he had bumps on his tongue which then went all over his body.

or i think its called hand foot and mouth maybe. I would take her to the pedi tho.. or atleast call tomorrow.

and they can pick it up from being around other kids who have it. mine picked his up from church when he got it.

When I was younger I had what they called geographic/map tongue and it was little red bumps surrounded by white rings and they came and went as they pleased lol. Also my 2 year old niece just recently had hand, foot and mouth disease. It started with little red bumps and progressed into a quarter-sized whiteish sore. It also is common on the outter lips. She got it from daycare... one little boy had it all over his arms and back also..

Another thing I recently read is that it could be a folic acid and vitamin B-12 deficiency...

Best bet would be to call nurse direct or your dr...

I'd never heard of hand foot mouth anything. I didn't know about it. Is it when they put their feet in their mouth? She does that a lot. There's no white, only red, looks like sores.

No it's actually a pretty common viral infection... the CDC is a great resourceful/informative website... I've researched it for one of my health classes but never heard of anyone getting it until my niece did, but I guess it's pretty common esp, in schools and in daycares since they all share toys and put them in their mouths and such...

Also if you google it and hit the images button it'll bring up a lot of good (not good as in good but visual) pictures of children with it so you can kind of compare it to what ur baby has... Just make sure you wash your hands A LOT, it's the best way to prevent it. And sanitize her toys/nuks/bottles very good after use...
