re: Having a C-section? Q&A and chat *here*

I loved my C-section too! As a matter of fact I'm having another one. But I still don't think theirs any harm in trying natural birth if you want to. I think every doctor has a different oppinion. I was told the only risk of that was if you had babies too close together.. kinda like in my case because my sons only a year old and I'm 6months pregnant because everything not had enough time to heal and go back in place. But my doctor told me if I still wanted to try natural labor he wouldnt object. My first C-section took forever... I just hope this one doesn't take as long.   Mine took like 2 or 2 1/2 hrs I can't remember but everyone was getting impatient.

I live in the uk and have previously had 2 sections and am having a 3rd on halloween, having read the apparent statistics on infant mortality here am very dissappointed and appalled that this scaremongering can be allowed! This isnt arming mums to be with facts its frightening to tell people that c sections lead to higher baby deaths than vaginal delivery when this REALLY ISNT THE CASE!

Wow... I must have missed that.. I think these day's having a baby either way is safe. I could be wrong. Just an oppinion.. I don't know the facts on it. I will say though that a c-section is nothing to be fightened about. I think their
perfectly safe and from my experience much easier than natural delivery.

I disagree. I have had semi natural and c section. I would take a vaginal over c section any day. I wanted a completely natural birth with DD2 but i had placenta previa so i wasnt allowed too.

There is alot of risk to having surgery and there is risk they cut the baby, you bleed more, there are so many whatifs just like vaginal. Its a matter of your body and how it reacts.

Our 36 week ultrasound a few days ago shows li'l dude is 8 pounds, and lying side-to-side with no real ambition to head south (Husband suggested putting a piece of cheese down there to entice him out- hahaha). Doctor says "we'll just go ahead and do a c-section", just like that. Didn't talk to me about inversion or wait-&-see-if he-flips, just set up an appt to schedule the procedure. I'm nervous as heck, but have been talking to other moms who have had CS, so I'm starting to feel a little bit better. I want details, like if my husband can stay with me the whole time, if it hurts my stomach to pee afterward, etc. We'd been planning a natural birth, but I guess it's not an option now?

My husband stayed with me in the OR until my babies were out, then he went with them to get cleaned up and stuff. With J my baby and husband were waiting for me in the recovery room when I got there. After his first bath, they brought him over to BF. An hour later taken out of recovery to our room. Walk as soon as they let you off the bed and do it often. It did not hurt me to pee afterwards. I had some pretty good recoveries with mine.

if you want to try a natural birth you tell your doctor you dont want a c section unless its the only option. Dont let your doctor pressure you into something you do not want.

I have had a vaginal and c section. My c section wasn't avoidable. I wanted a natural birth though but couldnt. If i had the option to try and have a vaginal one i would. The recovery is alot simpler and less painful and least it was for me.

I took a shower the same night, hell i wanted to get up hours after i got done because i had to poop. walk as much as you can, do not lay there. my daughter was brought to me about an hour after my c section and i got to breastfeed. my DH was with me the whole time.

My c section wasnt that bad and the recovery went pretty smoothly.

You still have 4 wks. if you dont want one then tell him you want to try first before you try c section. also they could be off on his weight.

I had a C-Section in 2010, it was unplanned after 22 hours of labor that didn't progress. It was very fast about 30 mins, then I dozed off. Recovering was the worst. I was so delicate, couldn't laugh, cough, sneeze, get up from bed it get dressed without help. After two weeks i was fine. The scariest part of my C-Section was all the pressure being applied under my ribs. Felt like I was suffocating.

I am 32 weeks pregnant now and I will be having a scheduled C-Section for Dec 4th, hopefully the experience won't be so bad because I know what to expect. good luck ladies.

i was told by my OB that My baby was to big and was at risk of getting stuck and suffering brain or nerve damage. I could have him vaginally but i was to scared of the rick.... they said it was uncommon and I already didnt want a C-section but i'm doing cuz I don't want to put my baby at risk of anything. I'm having a REALLY hard time coping with this and reading this did nothelp me... It's only made it worse. Iv already scheduled the C-section and now there's nothing I can do I'm so scared. this is my first baby and I'm 16 i shouldn't of had to make this decision and now idk what was right or wrong. I'm scared and I don't know what to do.... everyone keeps telling me theyre proud of my and i made the right choice but idk if i did. I don't want to have a problem breast feeding i don't want him to die I'm soo scared!!!!!!!!!!!! i want to do whats right for my baby cuz I need him to be ok I've done everything right until now, now i don't know what's right!!!!! I never wanted to have a C-sections I tried soo hard to avoid it! I wanted a vaginal birth i wanted that long painful no sleep uncomfortable experience I was looking foreword to it and now i don't get the chance to do it. i'm putting myself at risk of rupturing or tearing so my babies ok! even though i may not even need to! is that right? am I doing the right thing!!! i really just don't know I'm soo scared!! This is my story of a C-Section:
I was going to do a natural birth at the hospital with no medications, but my pain was too great and I wouldn't dialate that I ended up getting some temporary relief. I was in labor for 16 hours and my son wouldn't budge, so the doctor said the baby was not in the right position and didn't want to come out, I wasn't in danger nor the baby but the doctor thought it would be the right time to go ahead and get a C-section since the baby wasn't wanting to come out after 16hrs. I didn't know what to expect since I only knew one person that did have a c-section which was my older sister and her experience was a bad experience that ended up in the ICU. I trust God that he would take care of me, also I didn't think much because I was so tired and sleepy. I got the epidural and didn't feel a thing when they stuck the needle (most people say its suppose to hurt or feel cold) but I didn't feel a thing maybe i was so tired. I go transferred to the surgery room and didn't feel a thing but knew something was going on because my body was moving, I didn't get my hands tied down because they saw i was being cooperating with them and there was a male nurse always standing over my head to keep the oxygen in my nose or if i needed anything and to make sure i didn't fall asleep. My husband was there with me but for a short while that i can remember, it didn't take long for them to get the baby out it was the prep and closing part that took a while. I saw my baby and could hear thing going on but like I mentioned before I was so sleepy because of lack of sleep. I did end up sleeping while they stapled my cut. Then they took me to give my baby his first bath while I laied in bed and give him his first breastfeeding. I didn't hurt at all and was ok. The only bad thing is I did itch a lot that night but got benadryl. the next day was the first shower and it went well, I got medicine every 6hrs and every 4hrs two differant kinds, for pain. They game me a prescription for the meds when discharged, and the only thing I recommend is to order the medicine as soon as possible because if you go too long without it and your in a car it will hurt. I lived out of town and i was in pain because the medicine wasn't ready and the 6hrs were up from the last time I got the last dose. It hurts when you urinate if you don't have you meds. I didn't make a bowe movement until like 3days later which wasn't bad. I am 29 weeks now and having this one with a c-section, I don't want to go thur the long labor again and painful. So I am going to just get it done and get it planned. Best of luck to everyone.

Your baby has plenty of time to turn. A lot of babies are breech at this point.

As a first time parent, my doctor was able to guide me through and prepare me well for the procedure. I think it's very important to have a good doctor who you connect with well and can trust. I voted online at HealthTap for my doctor to spread the word about how great he was during this time. You can read about the voting at http://buswk.co/X3RUGN
