external version. They gave me a shot that sped up my heart rate, a nurse had the ultrasound machine on the baby to make sure the cord didn't get wrapped around his neck, fetal heart monitor and she used her hands on my belly to try to push and turn him. He was stuck and his heart rate increased as she tried to turn him. I think that was scarier then my actual c-section.

I don't think we should either.
I just feel like it should have plenty of support to back up the scary ass facts. If a woman is certain that a c-section is her only way (because her doctor strongly agrees) I don't think we should try to scare her out of it, we should be supportive.

My doctor asked if I would care to give it a shot, I said no. It's not for me.

I agree. Maybe even a laugh or two.   I lmao every time the nurse would whisper "have you passed gas yet?"

I was so smurfing happy when I finally did, I wasn't allowed to eat until I did. I screamed at Brandon to tell the nurse, and bring me a turkey avocado! It was tasty.

lol one of my GF's had a C-section and I remember her telling me they wouldn't let her go home until she passed gas and had a bowel movement. They kept feeding her beans and pepsi.

LOL.
I only had to pass gas, I didn't need to BM to leave. IDK if that's how it usually goes. Did anyone else need to poop first?

Quoting HeatherOO7 Epic:“ Hmmm. I think that most of these women will get their c-sections anyway. We push the fact that "we ... [snip!] ... to get help when you are afraid. I like the idea of being honest, but not slamming the heavy book of facts on a scared woman.”

there needs to be an emphasis on the many risks associated w/ it.

it's not a throw-up-your hands and say "oh well, if that's what you want, fine!"

it's major abdominal surgery.

period.

any other form of surgery receives a great deal of risk evaluation. i think there are too many women who think a c-section is a way to by-pass labor, preserve their vagina's tightness, and generally skip the whole "pain of childbirth" bit.

and the fact we have doctor's playing into that-- educated in the risks, but for legal and convenience purposes, they'd rather just slice you open.

i give support carefully. but there's no such thing as too educated... only undereducated.

It just appears like you don't agree with supporting a woman who has decided that this is her best bet. Sometimes beating someone over the head with facts until they agree with you isn't very helpful.
I DO agree that too many women opt for a c-section for careless reasons, but that's not the case for everyone, and we shouldn't try to scare someone who is fully aware of the risks, and is just looking for someone to talk to about the emotional aspects of a c-section.
I'm all for putting the information about it on this site, it would benefit a lot of woman. Maybe we could have a resources & links about c-section procedures/risks/needs, and one for support.
Just a thought.
