I really wish I could say something to calm you down, but I don't think anything I say will really help.
I've had 2 c-sections, one emergency and one scheduled. They scheduled one was harder for me mentally, only because I knew it was coming and it was all I could think about. Physically, it was way easier.
Try focusing on meeting your baby and getting everything ready for the hospital. Try not to worry about it too much either. The recovery will be painful, but it is totally do-able.
Good luck, and keep us posted!

Agreed. Both of mine were scheduled, only my first was scheduled only a few days beforehand. The anticipation is the worst part. You'll be surprised at how well you end up handling everything, becomming a mommy is a powerful thing. Just keep your mind focused on meeting baby and having him/her there as a big reward for your sacrifice. You'll do fine, just stay busy and get ready for a big change!

I have a comment/concern more then a question.

5 years ago giving birth by c-section to my son, they stuck the needle so high in my back that I started having panic attacks as soon as they laid my down.
I"m worried that it will happen again. They want you to form a C when they are giving you the shot, but I can't do that. That is why is was much higher put in then normal. I'm almost 7 months now and the closer time gets the anxious I become. I don't want to have another panic attack it was the most horrifying experience ever. But how do I not?IF they stick me so high again..... having baby jitters is all I'm going thru I guess.lol.

Did you have an epideral before your c-section? My SIL did and they had to put her spinal much higher for that reason.

no I didn't. As soon as I got in the OR, they put a spinal in my back, I wasn't given the option or spoke to by anyone about it, I didn't know what was going on, I was told to form a C and that was it.

Oh.
Cause my SIL had an epidural but didn't have the cathederin her back, so they couldn't just use that, so they had to do hers high. Mind is about three inches below my shoulder blades.

yeah mine was high like that. I got a catheder and i.v. in my hand. No one came in and spoke to me about my oprions like u see in a baby story on TLC... This time I know my options, but I don't think a EPI would be any better. if they stick me that high again, I'm gonna have a panic attack for sure. It felt like I could breathe, and my mouth was so dry, it was extremely scary. Iwas told to calm down or be put to sleep. I never calmed down, and I still wasn't put to sleep, as soon as Logan was born, the panic stopped and I felt like I could breathe again....lol!

I got an epidural both times and they had me lean over a pillow while there inserted it. I didn't feel too much the first time but with my 2nd it felt a little funny. I never had a panic attack there but after my first daughter, I've been suffereing from them randomly. I had a BIG one the other night because of a storm...and I know they are horrible! Talk with your doctor. You have the right to know your options and this time you know what you don't want to happen. There was talk about putting me under for my c-section with the twins and I was not having it go that way. I wanted to be able to coherently know what was going on when they came out, especially if something had gone wrong. I told him there was no way unless it was 100% needed for saving our lives. I got my way. Just talk about it and see what your ob thinks about your anxiety.

I have a question since my doctor is preparing me for most likely a c section...what did you all wear after having a c section?? I wanted to wear regular pajama sets, NOT a night gown. I don't want to deal with 'is my butt hanging out, 'when family members are in the room. Will I be able to wear pajama pants?

bring them and wear them. doctors aren't lawmakers.

you have a right to be comfortable for your own birth.

They will more than likely keep you in a gown for the first 24 hours or until they remove the catheter. After that they will encourage you to move around and probably shower and wear your own clothes.

Just make sure they are going to be a little loose so that they wont mess with the incision.
