CPS

This is partly debate and partly rant. I'm sure it will piss some people off, and I damn well hope it does.

I see a LOT of people say "I should contact CPS" etc. with regards to all number of things that people say on this forum.

Now, if someone thinks a child is really, really in genuine danger, then I think they're justified in being concerned, and making the call if they can find the appropriate information to report.

However, 98% of the time (I'm not exaggerating, either. I think the ratio is really that skewed) when the threat is made, the person making it, IMO, is not really, really concerned that the child is in danger and genuinely needs to be removed from the home, but they want to a) scare the poster b) get back at the poster c) act morally superior d) impress their friends e) I could keep going but you get the idea.

How often do people who threaten actually call? Pretty much never, because they have no intention. They're just being jackasses. Why threaten it if you don't intend to? You just look like a colossal jackass, IMO.

Do you idiots (yeah, I'm mad) realize that if you actually did call in every time you threatened to on here, how many more kids would be raped and killed because CPS had their hands tied investigating your claims made because someone online pissed you off for whatever reason? Does that make you feel good to know that if you went through with it, you'd be killing kids? I hope it does.

i've threatened to call CPS. but the couple of times that i did threaten, i actually did call. although it went nowhere because i didn't know annabelle's last name and NY is a BIIIIIIIIIG city.

Tell em girl!!!! When i threaten I do but I only threaten in severe cases and do they do anything not until my nephew is black and blue everywhere but his nose!!! bc some idiot is calling for stupd petty shit!!!

Well said. It annoys the piss out of me all the time when people on here threaten to call CPS.

I can only imagine the call, "Hi. My name is _______ and I'm on an internet website where this girl, her screenname is _________ just said she was going to feed her kid solids at 2 months. You need to take her kids away."

I must be in the wrong threads... I've never seen someone threaten to call CPS.  

I completely agree. They use it as a weapon and most of the time (or all of the time) never even call. I think it's a stupid thing to tell someone unless you're actually going to act on it.

I agree, I've actually said the same things before. It takes time away from serious cases where children are getting abused. This happens in real life around me too, people call it on other people just to get them in shit.

i totally agree! ive never threated anyone online to call cps on there children.... imo half the people on bg are fake anyways and just making shit up to get attetion or start drama...

I completely agree...it happens all the time in real life, too.

The small town where I lived after having my daughter, the young moms in town actually made a sport out of calling CAS on other people. They would make up vicious claims, and they would always remain "anonymous" when they called, but would brag about it at the coffee shop the next day.

and when CPS IS called.... it needs to be ACTUAL danger... not because somebody propped a childs bottle or went out for one night........ really.

CPS is there for the protection of children.
not for a threat to a parent you do not agree with.
