8.5 month old refusing sleep!

posted 9th Apr
it's nearly 2am & my son has yet to go to bed tonight.

he's pooped, he's eaten, he's burped...he had his nightly bedtime routine...nothing is different tonight.

BUT, he won't sleep! every time i try to nurse him to sleep (it's the only way he'll go), he bites me. then he gets mad because he can't nurse anymore. so i let him nurse again, he bites me again. it's been like this for HOURS.

i put him in his crib. he played for a few minutes, & then stood up & SCREAMED at the top of his lungs.

CIO doesn't work on him. he cries for about a minute, & then works himself into hysterics. he chokes, gags & holds his breath. so CIO is not an option.

any solutions? i'd like to go to sleep tonight!

That makes squeaky cranky & restless ..Have you tried giving him a teething tab?

Give him a nice warm bath. Keep him in a little longer than usual. I know he's already had one, but it might help give him that extra sleepiness.

He might be teething. Dom became a monster at night when he started teething.

You could try teething tablets or orajel.

This is by no means an every night thing but if it is teething Tylenol or Motrin before bed on really bad nights can help them sleep through the pain.

Sometimes when Teagan wont sleep I take a shower or a bath with her. Sometimes she falls asleep in the shower. Maybe let him lay in bed with you and nurse himself to sleep. Poor little guy.

I have no idea what you should do, but I hope the best for you with whatever you choose!

Amen....Tylenol and Motrin are awesome. Teagan gets excited when she sees me start to shake it up....which is probably not a good thing. lol

Oooh, shower is a good thing! They are long and tiring. That always helps my babies sleep good.

Dom grabs the dropper and shoves it in his mouth. I guess they make better tasting medicine then when i was a kid.

Another good trick, a bath with lavender bath soap and lavender bed time lotion after. It's very calming.

no, they usually do jack for him. but i will give him one!

he's never done this with his other four teeth. i mean, he wakes up a lot more at night when he's teething, but he's never flat out refused to sleep!
