Diaper Raffle and baby Shower

So my sisters and mom are throwing me my baby shower! One of my sistesr wants to do a diaper raffle... I feel like people wont bring a gift if they bring diapers.. This is my first baby and I am soo greatful for what i get, but i feel alot of the excitment is seeing what people buy for you and opening all the cute lil gifts!!! i dont want people to think i am telling them what to buy me or like allI want are gifts.... What do you ladies think????

Idk what exactly a diaper raffle IS, but regardless people will still buy you a little something. Almost everyone buys clothes and you're pretty much garauinteed to get some smaller things too. But if it bothers you that much then don't do the raffle

Is your DH going to be at the baby shower? If not, here's what I would suggest. Have him throw a party for his guy friends, including beer and poker (or whatever they're into doing), and make it a diaper party. Anyone who wants to attend is required to bring a pack of diapers. That way, you get a bunch of diapers, AND you still get the cute gifts from the baby shower!

Otherwise... You'd probably still get gifts if you did a diaper raffle (I'm assuming where people buy into the raffle with a pack of diapers). As long as there's a prize for the winner! We did a weight/date guess raffle. They'd buy in to guess the weight and date that the baby was born, and whoever was closest won a prize. I still got gifts at my baby shower, despite the raffle.

 my mom did a diaper raffle at my baby shower, I received many many gifts.  I do'nt think anyone brought diapers instead of a gift, they just added it to what htey gave me. I received basically everything a baby could need or want (I am talking entire bedding and accessories, nursery furniture, travel system, tub, 2 swings, bouncer seat, enough bath products to last at least 2 to 3 years, and well over 200 outfits plus onesies, pajamas, over 60 blankets, and much more).  On top of that I also got 50 packages of diapers. I was truly blessed by my friends and family.
 

So, anyway, just saying that to show you probably won't get diapers "instead" of another gift.  
 
A friend of mine won our raffle and got a gift card to a restaurant around here  

we did one for my sister and it went well. I just added at the bottom of the invitiation

"If you want to enter to win a great prize,
just bring a pack of diapers in any size!"

It wasn't rude, and they could participate if they wanted to.

oh, and the prize was a $30 gift card to a restaurant.

thank good to know... i am registered but i have already bought all the big stuff.
crib, beddding,stroller,car seat.. so maybe im not asking for much lol

As long as you make it optional I don't see how it would become a problem. My mom actually went to a friend's daughter's baby shower and they required a stack of diapers AND a gift. I found it to be obnoxious and tacky to expect both.

we got TONS of diapers at james's diaper party, we got whatever WWE pap per view was coming up and did food and beer, we got so many diapers for aayla i couldnt use them all it was great

I had a diaper raffle at my baby shower and it didnt go to well, people obviously didnt follow directions lol!

i didn't ask people to bring diapers i ended up getting so many anyway she didn't even use all the newborn ones we got, and now i have like 400 size ones! haha
