Sooooooooo totally understandable why you are so annoyed. I would be too.
Sounds like they need someone else in charge of things over there.

I am annoyed with our support group myself (for different reasons) so I do understand about being irritated with what is suppose to be a support system.

while we were there mike (when he gets angry he plucks his eye brows, not sure exactly why or what that is all about) but when we got in the car he was like, "how am i supposed to go to work like this tomorrow i have only one eyebrow left!" ha ha ha..

status quo....there were a few members who were receptive, but the president and one of the other members was like, egh no we looked into this we looked into that blah blah blah blah...

I'm not a part of a support group, except this one. I don't like the politics that there are in them. I'd rather just met people on my own and build the relationships that way.

honestly, you were the reason that we wanted to attend this buddy walk meeting. i noticed how different your buddy walk with lincoln was compared to our buddy walk...where you guys went out to get pledges and so forth, you had the donation page online, and had teams and such...our buddy walk is like, you register youpay the 25 dollars per family, get the tee shirts and then you do the walk...no talks of pledges and no talks of other things like that. i found it odd and after seeing how you guys did your walk, thats what prompted us to attend this meeting. i'm not "apart" of the group persay and i don't think i want to be apart of it as they are not receptive to change other than what they are doing. i honestly get most of my support from you guys online than even in the mom's group (4 kids all under 2 who have ds in our area)...the main group is the one who holds the buddy walk and they are the ones stuck in the stone age

Sounds like they need a new head chair for their buddy walk board. The main reason they got sponsers for ours was to cover the cost of the walk and to give away prices. Like the team with the most registered walkers (which wound up being 75) got a free dinner for EVERYONE at the Aquarium downtown. The competition is good fun and makes everyone have a better time. Do you guys have speakers or anything like that? Is there another buddy walk within driving distance that you guys could be a part of ?

they have had speakers in the past but because its sucha long day in general they didn't want to add to the length of the day plus they do have other things going on, food, blow up bouncy things, therapy dogs, pictures, as well as a local jazz band...i understand that it may get long...but to be able to put the money towards a speaker later on in the future date. i even talked to bop's teacher today about it, and even getting someone from the birth to three program to go to the schools to talk about kids with ds and such put the money towards that, it wouldn't cost that much money and most of the social workers would LOVE to do that regardless. they had talked about doing a raffle but then they'd have to pay some sort of gambling tax which g-d forbid they do.. so more than likely they aren'g oing to have a raffle. no other walk unless we want to travel hours away.

Sounds to me like they just don't want to make the effort to make it work. The extra money would mean extra work for them and heaven forbid we do extra work to educate those that don't understand. Its our responsibility to educate people about our children if we ever want this world to fully except DS.

People like that just annoy the tar outta me.

My local support group is the same way. I don't mean this mean but it is all about who has the most material things in my local group. I don't compete with BS like that. Then it is like they start competing on who does a better job of raising their DS child. Who does the most therapies, activities, vitamin supplement junk. I mean come on people, lets get real! I go to the meetings, because I am close to a few people there. But I don't particularly care for it at all!

She so full of bullsmurf. She doesn't miss her baby. She feels relief she doesn't have to inconvenience herself now.

so bop has been sick since tuesday...a cold nothing too bad heck i was sick since easter...anyway - today...he took his first cruise steps     he pulled up on the couch while we were watching the derby and the next thing i knew he was halfway to the end of it! i believe that he's starting to feel better - those vaporizors are gifts from g-d! i tell ya. oh and he's still protesting the sippy cup with vigor...he would rather spill it all onto the floor and play with the milk than suck it through the sippy lid...luckily though, i found a sippy cup that he somewhat tollerates ..go figure, one of those cheapy packs of sippy cups would be his best bet...so much for buy ing all those other ones with the funky gadgets and such...right now hes taking his sippy cup on an adventure around my mom's plants - i think he's trying to hide it. he's been eying his bottle since i brought out the sippy cup. lol

here's some somewhat recent pics...its been a while

not exactly the traditional way to work out with weights...lol
