Well then.. if thats what you believe in then all the more power too you, I just dont agree with it. Not only that but if you are breast feeding for that long does that mean you are going to be able to go with out caffiene, alcohol, or anything else that you shouldnt be doing while breast feeding? If so then thats very committed of you. congrats.

I went without all foods/drinks/etc. that contained milk or soy proteins, tomatoes, and caffeine for almost a year. That pretty much knocks out all processed foods that exist.

It sucks, but it's possible to restrict the diet and continue to bf.

It takes an hour per drink to get out of your system. Babies do not eat every hour. I can feed him, have a drink, then wait at least an hour to feed him again.

Plus your body filters most of it out of your milk.

i think its much more than an hour as Alcohol peaks in mom's blood and milk approximately 1/2-1 hour after drinking.

I always sayleave it 4 hours per standard drink. Even though last night was the first night i have drunk since he was born (he is now 10 months) and i left it 12 hours before feeding him again and i only had 1 standard drink.
i did find a chat on it but its to small to read

ok i found the table

http://www.beststart.org/resources/alc_reduction/pdf/brstfd_alc_deskref_eng.pdf

So say if you are 145lb it would take 2 hrs 16 minutes (under perfect conditions if you are 5 foot 4) for 1 drink to be eliminated from your breastmilk.

I have heard people say an hour before and i always knew it reaches its peak at about that time... I was always told 4 hrs per drink to be safe to make sure none is left in there

Ah well, I'm 185 so it's 2 hours to get out of my system. But even so, it's common for babies to go 3-4 hours between feeds by 4-6 months.

Its not about denying everything. We are still human. but what it is about is to know the substances that can pass through your breast milk and knowing the potential dangers involved in it. ITs about being armed with the facts. Not denying yourself everything but living life in moderation and coming together as a family with your child.

Its about being armed with the information and making informed decision. Cigarette smoke takes approximately 90 minutes to leave your milk - now that is just the nicotine not the other substances involved - so its about making an informed choice and making the best decision for your child. It someones child sleeps 12 hours a night what is wrong with them having a few drinks but then stoping 8 hours before they wake up? In most cases (depending on the amount of drinks consumed) there will not be a drop of alcohol left in the mothers milk.. So why is this a bad thing? If anyting it could be a great stress releif she needed which intern makes her a better mother.

So maybe instead of just saying 'its bad' and basically you are a shit mother maybe its time to educate yourself?

From what i know of Corbins mum she is an exceptional mother who knows her facts. Most Dr's even recommend an hour per standard drink. So if anything she was saying the info the Dr's stated.
