honestly, im way more terrified of having blood drawn than of L&D

i have a severe phobia of needles, and it actually kept me up for about 3 hours the other night just freaking out over it   and i know that there's no way out of it, i just have to suck it up but hell its hard when i keep having nightmares about it

they have numbing cream they can put on so you dont feel the needle!

i didnt know that! but it's also more than just the needle, the whole process of getting ready and everything to me is the worst part

getting shots isn't so bad, because all they do is stick it in and pull it out but with blood work there's all this stuff you have to do to prepare. how long does it usually take once they start drawing blood?

depends how much they are taking.
usually a minute or two.

I'm terrified of needles too, I actually tried to run away from the woman trying to give me my 7th grade shots, lol. You just have to focus on the baby. It's all for the good of the baby. Trust me, after you have a baby needles don't seem quite as bad. I didn't get pricked much in my first pregnancy, just once for blood, then the IV when I was having him. It doesn't take long for them to draw blood, just pray that you don't have a nurse like the one I had, she had that rubber strap on so tight that my hand turned purple. She said that it was to make it go faster. Shit, I would rather sit through blood drawing for a minute longer than having no use of my hand afterwards. I was so mad.
Labor isn't that bad though, or it wasn't for me at least. I got pain meds through my IV and that worked for a while, then I got the epidural, which hurt, I won't lie, but compared to the pain that I was in from the contractions the needle was quite welcome. It's really scary to go through the first time, but I said afterwards that I'd go through labor again any day if I didn't have to go through the 9 months of pregnancy.

I'm terrified of needles too. I have a panic attack everytime I have to get blood drawn. You're right. The prep process makes it a ton worse.
Something I didn't know with my first - they will come to draw blood from you and the baby before they can discharge you. I wasn't prepared for it and I pitched a fit because I didn't want them sticking my poor baby.

Enjoy your shoes while you can! My feet grew an entire size with my first pregnancy. I was soooo mad because I had gotten a new pair of red pumps for Christmas and couldn't wear them! I hope they don't grow again. That would put me in a size 12!!!!!!! Yeah, I know, I have huge feet.

They never stuck Kale while I was around thankfully. I probably would have throttled them, lol. Now that you mention that though I remember them taking blood before I left the hospital. God, my time in the hospital was such a blurr.

I know I got my phobia of needles from having SOOO many surgeries when I was little. I had to have 4 people hold me down once when I was like 4 when I had pnemonia, lol. With my epi my contractions had gotten to the point where I would wake up and cry every time they came then I'd pass out again afterwards. I was so ready for it by that point, I probably could have gotten it way earlier but I didn't want to get it too early. I was mad because they made everyone leave when I got it.
